cranking noise and vibration

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this; my RL gives out a cranking mechanical noise and an associated vibration linked to the steering wheel. It happens when I take a particular turn in our garage. Specifically, it happenes when after I make a 90 degree right turn and returning the wheel to half-way straight.

I remember having this also in my old Accord.

I've never had any sound at all turning the wheel in my RL. And I've had the new model since October 15th last year. I'd definitely ask the dealer to look into it.

I have a noise which seems to be coming from the suspension when I'm driving SLOWLY on a bumpy or cobblestone city street. It drives me nuts. The dealer can't find it but I hear it.

I may have that too. Sometimes i go over bumps (usually small ones) at slow-city speeds and I hear a noise and dunno if it has been there since day one or is new or what. It could just be common or maybe it isn't. I'd have to drive another RL to see. I have debated taking it into the dealership but I doubt they would find what may cause it because IMO dealerships are borderline useless based on past issues I have seen family members have wiht cars and from reading posts on forums.

It isn't a big deal since I have music playing all the time but I do find it odd it doesnt happen on every bump and at highway speeds I could go over anything and there is no sound at all.

Thanks for all the feedback. I noticed that it also could happen after the steering wheel is straightened out after a turn. I have not decided to bring it to the dealership because I share the impression that the dealership is near useless with issues with the new RL.

you may be right. I had a serviceman ride with me for about 30 minutes. He heard the noise & wanted to replace the struts. I don't think it's the struts so I'll just wait to see if there's a recall. Also, I really should drive another RL to see if the problem is throughout the entire line. At that point I'd feel better.

I wish I was near you so we could drive each other's car and see.

On another RL forum I read about people with noises and some pointed out it could b the brake calipers I guess being a bit loose so they are bouncing around over bumps. Some users said to try braking while going over bumps and see if the noise is still present...you may want to try that.

I suggested to the serviceman that it could be the brake calipers. He looked at me like I was crazy. The noise is certainly less when my foot is on the brake.

Hmm, sounds like it could be the calipers then.

I have sorta tried to test this out driving over spots I have heard the clunking while lightly pressing on the brakes. I don't hear the clunking sound. One day I will do a sure fire test of picking out a stretch of road and go over it at same speed without pressing the brake and also pressing the brake and see what the results are. If I find out the sound is totally gone while pressing the brake I will simply take my wheels off myself and play around with the calipers.

Pretty sure my sound comes from the brakes/wheels. I think I am going to pop my wheels off this weekend and see what's up
