Hey peoples... Both of my headlights are not working on my 2005 RL. I checked the fuse and the passenger side low beam fuse was broken... I replace the fuse 4 times and every one broke immediately after turning on the headlights... high beam still works though.

Anyone have this problem?..or suggestions? I'm wondering if there is an electrical short or issues with grounding..

 

you can try replacing the fuse with something slightly stronger...not sure if it'll make a difference.

I know the bulbs are pretty easy to remove and check, but the ballasts are a b(&* to get to and bumper would need to be removed.

If it's not the bulbs or the fuses...the cheapest alternative I see is to go after market HID and lose the AFS (and possibly remain forever with a yellow warning light).

Or...if you know what you're doing and easy steps fail, you can remove the bumper and see if stock ballasts are fried.

 

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the fuse one last time and it didn't break...so I took out the headlight and had my mechanic test the ballast as the bulbs looked good. That appears to be the problem so now I'm looking for some new ballast. I'm still a little concerned if it's really the issue since both headlights died at the same time and it's rare for this to be the result of two bad ballast.... but we shall see.

I converted the fog lights to HID but I wonder if I could just move them up to my headlights for the time being since this is killing my nightlife lol
