In Loving Memory

Enjoy that Bimmer. Even with the warranty having to take your car to get serviced cause crap breaks is annoying but if you can handle it, more power to ya!
Getting property is the best thing to do right now. Home prices are low as hell as well as interest rates. I just bought a house as well and I'm paying less than what most people pay for apartment rent. Thats with my utilities, mortagage, insurance, and property taxes (monthly of course) If and when the market reverses I'll have a ridiculous amount of equity in my home and it will be paid off before I'm 35. Even though property values are shot, invest now for a low price and you will reap the benefits in the next 10 years or so.
Congrats on the car, and the soon to be new addition and good luck on finding a great home

Yes they can put it up for 21k$. It does not mean they can will get the price they are asking for. The car business is a game and you HAVE to know how to play it.
I know they were going to start out the selling price at 16,995$. When the person comes in they will negotiate. Now they have a lot of room from 12k$.
Not the end of the world.
I got a nice deal on MY car. Only because I know how the business operates.

Damn, your arm rest was jacked up. I didn't realize that's how bad people's are. No wonder there are so many threads about upholstery.
Why didn't you pull the wheels off and sell them here? Did you no longer have the stocks? Could have made another grand I would think.

Congrats on the car. Its funny because i went from a e60 to an RL. Be sure to get on e60.net were you will learn a crap load on your car where I did to. If you like speed, get the jb3 chip it unlocks your 535 wildly....

Well after 1.5 weeks of ownership I have a few things to say about the 535xi in comparison to the RL.
Exterior:
I love the look of the RL with the factory A-spec kit installed with a drop. Maybe I just really like mine haha. I also love the exterior styling of the 5 series. The angels on at night are just pure win. Also the LED tail lights are official.
Navigation:
The Rl wins HANDS DOWN. I hate the navigational use of the BMW. It is strange and complicated. It feels like I cannot even search stores or locations. The RL navigation was well thought out and is way more advanced. This is a 2005 RL to a 2008 535. You would think the 2008 BMW would have a better navigation system. If you love the Navigation of the RL you will HATE the navigation on the BMW.
Driving Dynamics
Obviously the BMW wins hands down. I now understand why they call this car the ultimate driving machine and I only have a 535! IMO I think the X drive will outhandle the SH-AWD. The car feels much better balanced and planted. The power on the BMW will blow the doors off the RL in a heart beat. THe car is very solid.
Interior
This is kind of a toss up. But I am still leaning more to the RL interior. The red lighting on the BMW is cool, but its something about the RL that makes you feel you are in a cockpit.
Conclusion:
The 535xi is a great car and I am happy I decided to switch. The only problem I am waiting to happen is the HPFP and I have 10 years coverage on that

Debadged I think you'd be hard pressed to guess what it is. The front is a little Bentley like, at a certain angle the back looks like a wider version of BMW 3 series mixed with some E series...well...it's a mutt.

I appreciate your passion on this one, but opinions are unique to each individual.
Plus, its not about the numbers a magazine produces (which are probably jaded by the manufacturer) its about the feel in the seat and the presence on the street.

ECU upgrades void the warranty and invite more repairs. Have to be really well off financially to pull that off if you ever run into problems.
Not if u go through Dinan it wont void the warranty
My solution is still the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec even though I never seen, drove it or even read about a quick road test.
