Loud bang from engine compartment

It's been a couple of weeks since I drove my RL last time, so I decided to take it for a spin. After regular driving for about 8 min, I decided to hear my VTEC after a red light. I floored the pedal, the car shifts to second, then all of a sudden I hear a big bang from the engine compartment. The car lost power for a split of a second, then everything went back to normal.

That just happened to my car?

I have about 12000 miles, it's a 06.

Combustion problem? Spark plugs problems?

back-fire, its normal if you don't hard drive for a while, then decide to punch it. I had this happen once in my MDX after I drove it granny style for about 3 weeks, then one day boy racer and on the way out from work BANG

that is much more serious, you car is misfiring. One of your fuel injectors could be bad, or worse you could have something damaged inside your motor. Blinking Check engine Light means misfire, meaning a lot of knock.

could this be because i upgraded to the UR underdrive cr pulley? do you think the dealer will give me a hard time with the new pulley?

Yes, yes, and yes.

I have found no good reason to use that pulley.

I do not believe it is an upgrade.
Do you think Honda would not have put it on if it had a real benefit that one could feel?

IF its the underdrive, then you might run into some issues, but if its the stock sized UR pulley, then you should be fine.
