As much as many of us want a V8 in the RL.....our J35 is getting some accolades. Ward's Auto World named the J35 as one of the best engines of 2007. While the Accord specifically is named, just remember that the highway mileage even in our relatively heavy RLs is pretty respectable and.....it's ULEV to boot!

So give some props to Honda for our great engine.

"Bullet Proof" engines is what Honda has always been about, right? The reliability quotient is what first attracted me to Acuras- it's caused me to stay away form BMW, MB, and Jaguar.

That's great that the engine is still receiving accolades!

Did they say whether that J35 had the VCM in it? I wonder if that makes any difference?

which version is it? Or is an overall as the J35 is the best? Its good to see that honda still knows how to make reliable motors like the C- series motors in the NSX.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — The engines that power such vehicles as the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt, the Honda Accord coupe and the Cadillac CTS earned top honors in Ward's 10 Best Engines roster for 2008. The winners were announced Thursday, with Ward's praising engines that improve fuel economy "without compromising performance."

The winners were the FSI 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC inline-4 in the Audi A3, the 3.0-liter turbocharged DOHC inline-6 in the BMW 335i Coupe and the 3.0-liter DOHC V6 turbodiesel in the Mercedes E320 CDI. General Motors landed two first-time winners with the 3.6-liter DOHC V6 in the Cadillac CTS and the 6.0-liter OHV V8 hybrid in the GMC Yukon Hybrid.

Ford earned kudos for the 4.6-liter SOHC V8 in the Mustang Shelby GT/Bullitt. Honda picked up an award for the 3.5-liter SOHC V6 in the Accord Coupe, while Mazda was praised for the 2.3-liter DISI turbocharged DOHC inline-4 in the Mazdaspeed3.

Nissan made the list with "the 14th consecutive win for its hallmark VQ-Series DOHC V6," Ward's said, "the only engine to win an award every year since the competition's inception in 1995." The engine powers the Infiniti G37.

Toyota's 3.5-liter DOHC V6 that powers the Lexus IS 350 rounded out the field of winners. Ward's said the Toyota engine has a "brilliantly refined design."

To be eligible, an engine must be available in a regular-production U.S.-spec model on sale no later than the first quarter of 2008. It also must be available in a vehicle priced no higher than $54,000, a price cap indexed to the average cost of a new vehicle, Ward's noted.

BMW engines are actually reliable....its everything else that can be absolute junk in terms of reliability and longevity.
