Question How "strong" is your rear window Defroster?

Yeah, how ironic is it that a guy in San Diego is asking about the defroster... but I am. I hardly ever use mine, but recently had the opportunity.

It seems slow, much slower than other cars including my Legend. How strong/fast is yours? Is there a performance/voltage test to verify things?

Not the slowest, but certainly not fast.

Bringing this back....

We had a hard frost in my neighborhood last night. I timed the defroster. From the time I pushed the button, it took just short of four minutes to clear the rear window. That seems fine to me. Admittedly, I didn't time it on any of my other cars, so I don't know whether that is relatively fast or slow.

Translation: Bob was in the Dog House with the wifey over sumthin' so he had time to 'think' about it outside in the frost.

Oh, and by the way....what is 'frost'?

Mine not only slow but only clear 1/3 bottom of windshield, no break on grid. Does it work whole glass for you guys? Is it typical slow Acura thing?

I ended up getting my rear windshield replaced by a local glass installer because of how poorly the defroster performed. It's made a big difference in how quickly the the majority of the glass gets cleared.

Did you replace with OEM part? I am afraid it gonna be the same

Non-OEM glass was installed. The defroster was practically useless with the old glass and I dealt with it too long before deciding to have it replaced a few months ago.

Was also wondering about this. Poorest defroster I've ever had on a car. Takes forever and does not clear the whole window.
Does'nt almost work at all when it's colder than -5C or 23F.
Does someone here live in a cold area?
In which temperatures does it have a problem for you?
When its -10C or 14F and colder nothing even happens.

I know it's cold, but on all of the cars I've owned before this was never and issue.

The rear defroster and the outside side mirrors share the buttun for heating, and the ice there melts without any issue. (Not sure if it's the same on the RL as the Legend)
