How many miles (MPG) are you getting?
How many miles per gallon are you getting? I have an 07 and I am only getting 16 mpg per the computer display. Is anyone getting better gas mileage? I have about 1000 miles on the car..
What MPG are you getting on your RL?

Stop & go surface streets = 16
Freeway road trips = 28
Daily commute = 20.5
BTW although the '04 TL 5AT got better mileage on daily commute (24), surface street mileage was also 16.

Mileage
I usually see about 17 but have "nudged" 30 on the highway. This is via the computer display and its computation. The way *I* check the mieage gives a bit lower figure. <g> Have a book and note miles driven and fuel added via pump display, then periodically figure the whole mess. Have not done that as yet with the RL, but it's getting to be about time (had it for just at a year now).

according to the display after conversion around 19-20 combined on this tank but that includes me having a bit of fun after getting my new summer tires. On avg I get around 21 combined.

My stop-and-go city driving has risen to about 19 over the past few months. Highway trips have yielded upwards of 30, but most of them come in about 28.5.
I don't have the bumper-to-bumper commute many people have, so my city driving totals are better than some.

My AVG MPG / Tankful is a very consistent 23-24mpg. My commute is nearly 50/50 city/highway. That is only 1mpg avg less than I got with my TL.
City driving produces 19 mpg, highway averages 29 mpg. I seen highway cruising at 32mpg.
I am no red light racer, but I do enjoy some spirited driving on backroads.

I wonder what NY city owners are getting from their RL. Because, I personally, am getting way below that city mpg you all wrote here. My highway mpg is about 29 if I pay attention to how I am driving. From my experience, at 1500 rpm, the same range where we all notice that shudder, keeping the car at that rpm somehow makes the mpg suffer a little. You've got to keep the rpm above 1500 and up to or below 2000 to make the most mpg. But with NY city driving that's just impossible specially with the way drivers are in this city.

Since it's an '07, I expect it's pretty new.... being on my second 2gen-RL, I can tell you that gas mileage is piss-poor for the first 5000-7500 miles or so, until the engine breaks in.
So, it should go up some after a few months, but I generally get 18-22 MPG depending on how much I dip into the VTEC....

I'm getting 19.5 MPG and the car only has 600 miles. I expect it to get alot better with more miles on the car.
It's still lot better then my other car, which only gets about 9-10MPG.

This may be a tad off-topic, but several have mentioned the error in the trip computer mileage.
I tested mine on the first few tanks of gas and found it to be within a tenth one way or the other. Given the normal variables, and since it sometimes was a tenth high and sometimes a tenth low, I figure it's on average spot-on.
Was the "error" just on 2005 models? For those who feel the computer is in error, did you try several tanks, so you could get a good average reading?
Sometimes people don't take into account the fact gasoline expands a good bit when warm, so for instance if you fill up on a hot day the tank will hold less. Conversely, cold gasoline will contract and you will end up with more in the tank after it warms. I've even read where "experts" say you should fill up only in the early morning when the gas is the coolest and therefore most dense ... that way, you get the most bang for your buck!![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Thanks Doc:
That explains why I've noticed my milage creep up the last month or two. My highway driving with cruise set at 71 has gone up from 27.3 to 28.8 and now that I think of it that latter figure is with the AC on most of the time. Must be the gas formulation change. I think cruising at 60 (for expermentation purposes only) yielded closer to 30.5. but I haven't driven that slow for a couple of months.

21.5 MPG total avg over first 5K miles
21 avg MPG on daily 100 mile commute featurning 75% secondary, winding hilly roads, other 25% stop and go city.
If pure city or pure mountain (big hills) lowers the avg to 18.

I do 90% city driving, 10% highway. This nets me about 16mpg .
Pure highway driving gives me about 29mpg, which is amazing because the tsx loaner I had got 31mpg on the highway.

Same thing i'm getting for pure highway driving, around 29mpg. But my city driving is really bad. I don't really get a mix of highway and city driving during the week, it's just pure city driving and a little highway during the weekend. But that's about it.

'05 RL
70% city 19-20mpg
30% highway 29-31mpg
funny enough, using different fuel manufacturer (e.g. chevron, shell etc) over same route and under similar traffic conditions, the mpg varies by as much as 15-20% for my car.

05 RL wth 18k miles
I live in a small Colorado town and if I use the car for running around daily I get 15/16 mpg.
On a recent long trip to California I had a high of 31 and a low of 28. These figures are at a cruising speed of 80 and if I remember correctly the rpm was only 2500. The mile ometer is dead right and so is the average mpg.

On my 05 RL with just over 28K miles, I'm getting between 20-22 MPG on my 40 mile round trip to/ from work with about 10 traffic lights, three small towns, and an elevation change of about 1000'. It takes a lot of gas to move the 4000LB + car up the hills. I never seem to break even on mileage though, going down the same hills. On trips I'll get about 28 MPG. In the winter, my mileage was a little lower, maybe 1 MPG.

Consistently 21-23 mph. I have never gotten the high mileages I see noted here. I use mid-grade gas....could that me a problem?
Also, my 2000 RL had MUCH more pick-up. Should that be?

And mid-grade gas is a huge ripoff. Premium gas is worth it, your car will run more efficiently with it.. but if you're not going to run premium, you may as well use regular. The extra point or two of octane isn't going to make much difference between 86 and 88... but the 91 or 93 will for sure.
