How long did it take you to find a car?

I went to Dallas yesterday to look at 2 possible cars. The one from goodson acura was marked at $21,111 and they wouldn't go down. When I got there today it was marked at $26,600 and then the sticker said now on sale for $23,600. I looked at it and all 4 wheels were curbed checked and the windshield had a rock chip in it. The 2nd car was supposed to be a Lawyer driver car in perfect condition. I had to go to Euless, tx to see it. When I got there the car wouldn't start, someone left the lights on. But before I even looked at it I did a car fax on it to see and it went to goodson acura at 60.400 miles and I thought that was the 60K service so I asked them if it was and they said it was in the body shop and they couldn't answer any other questions??? this wasn't their car it was at another dealership is that some kind of law that they can't? so anyway he called the guy and the car had the entire rear bumper replaced. There were stains all in the car and the cigerette lighter thing wouldn't close and he said he knew it wasn't closing. Also he didn't know the code to the NAVI since the power went out and also didn't even have the user manual and they wanted $20,990 for a 06 with 69K miles on it and I talked them down before to $20,200 before I learned of any problems. I don't think the car in houston the 05 for $15,500 talked down from a current $15,990 with 82K miles is a good deal either since it is worth $14,000 trade in and all wheels wheel checked with no hint the car ever went to the dealership for any kind of major service. Any advice out there for anything? Is it worth buying a CPO car? I talked to a guy in FT worth acura and he says he has a 05 blue one with 69K miles and he told me to make an offer and I said $20,500 with the CPO on it but I think that is too high also. I think that maybe $250 over trade in value along with whatever the warrenty cost should be good?

Don't rush - if you end up in an RL that you're not in love with, it'll only get worse as time goes on. I wouldn't even consider getting this car WITHOUT being CPO.

Took me about 4 months, I wasn't even dead-set on the RL when I began looking. I first was looking at getting an 08 TL type S, but couldn't get one with both nav and 6-speed. Then I began looking at the IS250, but again couldn't find one with nav and 6-speed (plus, why didn't Lexus think it would be a good idea to put a 6speed manual on the IS350??).

Anyway, after deciding that the RL, 07 G35 and 06 M35 were my top 3, I really began to look hard at the RL and ended up going with the RL because it came out to over $100 less per month. Plus, as has been discussed, it is by far the most exclusive car - I see dozens of G's & Ms everyday - while it's rare to see another RL twice a week.

So, def take your time...you're in luck, the more time goes by, the more RLs will be arriving at dealerships off lease returns. Good Luck!!

Yes...even after I warned him to do Auto Check as well as Carfax. Hope he didn't go through with the sale yet.
