How to find the RL I'm looking for?
Hello to everyone. Newbie here. I'm seriously interested in a 2006+ RL with the tech and A-Spec (if possible) package. What's the best way to find one? I've been looking on Autotrader.com and eBay regularly. Would appreicate any help, thanks!
I created a message with my requirments and then emailed it to every Acura dealer within 150 miles. No one had what I was looking for (My color selection was only white, platinum frost and desert mist and I really wanted CMBS/PAX). In the end - I was able to buy a new '07 with CMBS/PAX for about the same ($45K) as what few CPO low milage '06's were available for. If you aren't fussy about the color - particularly if you want a dark color - you might try that. I eneded up finding the car in Palm Springs and I am in the SF Bay Area. (I had it trucked up here).
Good luck.
Good luck.

The 2006 RL Tech Package = ACC/CMBS/PAX
The 2007+ Tech Package = 2006 RL when there was no stripped model.
The 2006 RL Tech Package can get A-Spec body parts, but not wheels (unless you wish to give up PAX) and definitely no A-Spec suspension, because, I believe, the lowering interferes with the alignment of the radar. The A-Spec suspension will fit, but Acura says it is not recommended. I have found a dealer or two willing to install, but they just want the money. No idea if they can realign the radar.
The 2007 + RL Tech Package can have the full A-Spec body, suspension, and wheels installed because there is no ACC/CMBS radar to worry about, much less the PAX system.
Anyway, if you are buying used, and looking at 2006 or 2007, be careful with your terminology.
ACC/CMBS/PAX is great. I have it, and love it, but I cannot put A-Spec suspension on it until I find a dealer willing to realign the radar and keep the warranty intact, and not rape me at the same time.
Confusing?

Again:
2006 Tech = all the bells and whistles including ACC/CMBS/PAX
2006 base = Navi
2007 "Tech" = 2006 base minus OnStar, plus backup camera (includes Navi)
2007 base = stripped, not even Navi
Now I have a headache.
I LOOOVE my 2006 Tech (CMBS/PAX).

Well I found a new base 07 for $39k. I can always add on the A-Spec suspension and wheels later but I kind of wanted the Tech package, mainly the Nav. Decison time. Do I jump of this one or do I keep looking for a great deal with The Tech?
for what its worth....i bought an 07 non-tech. I bought a hard to find 05 DVD navagation unit on ebay and after getting it repaired at alpine installed it and i now have full navagation except i don't have acuralink or real time traffic. Changing this unit took almost no skill, this only the unit in the trunk. ebay nav unit =150 + Alpine factory repair = 150 + new 3.56 DVD = 102.50 + freight = 40...total under $450. I paid 38k for my non-tech. They wanted 42k for tech.
It may take a lot of time to find the DVD nav unit. It is hard to find any RL in the junk yards. you don't find totalled RL;s
As long as you are patient and dilligent, you should be able to get a non-tech and put nav in it.

Larry is definitely the man as far as converting to a navi RL is concerned. That is a data point that is hard to ignore because of its compelling value.
If you want it all done for you already, and are willing to spend the extra money, you should keep looking for a Tech model.
