How fast....?

Thought this was a question worth asking. We have had a lengthy discussion on my other BB that I participate in as to how fast our cars will go. My 1994 Alfa 164Q will go 150 just as the book says. Personally, I have had the car to 120 for a brief moment. Today I opened the RL up to 100-105 for short couple of miles on a back road and it was rock steady. It wasn't any noisier than it was at 75. Anyone care to venture forth and say how fast your RL has gone?

Got it up to 115 on I-5 coming back from Seattle. Would have tried for 120 but I ran out of open road and had to bring it back it down. It was amazingly smooth and solid at that speed....not an ounce of drama.

So what I am hearing is that the governor is the limiting factor for attaining a higher top speed. Someone must know how to adjust that or is it a computer thing? I bounced the limiter in 1st gear the other day in manual mode. Weird sensation. What I like about the acceleration of the the RL is that around 4,000 it starts to pull hard if you hold the pedal steady, like it is coming on the cam. At 100 the other day the car was still pulling hard.

basically there is no reason this car shouldn't be able to do 150mph apart from the computer limiter. I believe there is a way to remove it but it's in the $200-$400 range and barely does anything beyond that. I haven't seen anyone actually use one but I think something generic does exist.

I believe in Europe, the governor is set at 155

i hit 135 several times and it seemed so easy. car was at about 3500 rpm's so i know i had room to play. This car is a best and it felt smooth as ever. love this car.

Someone should have an algorithm that can compute wheel size, rpm and top gear ratio to translate out what the max top speed is. :-) We know the wheel size (225-50-16), top rpm is 7000, so what is the gear ratio for 5th gear? Now to find the algorithm.
