High Beam and DRL failed

Last night when driving in rain the high beams failed. The blue icon in the dash remained illuminated but no HB lighting.
When we arrived at home I turned off the headlights and received a DRL system warning. Stopped and restarted the car, same result.
It is still pouring outside so I haven't checked anything (fuse, etc.) but wondered if anyone has had this happen to them and if they found the cause/cure.

I get DRL failed warning everytime I start the car with the lights off. My high beam has never failed on me before. Using a $50 ebay kit with 10,000k bulbs, 35w.

These are the Toshiba HIR 9011 lamps and on rare occasions the DRL warning has appeared but then went away. This was a failure while driving. I think it is independent of the lamps. It would be unusual, I think, for both lamps to fail at the same time.

Yes, sort of strange. I just looked at the fuses in the manual, and each high beam is independently fused. I suppose you should check the fuses to be sure, but if both went out at once, and the fuses are good, I would think it is something else.

as far as I know there are 1 fuse each for left and right lights under the hood plus one additional fuse for both under the left foot area.

or it could be one fuse under the hood and two under left foot...whichever

HID high beams have been good to me rain or shine since low beams stay on as well.

When your high beam turns off your low beam, that might not be so good.

Road illumination using the high beams in rain depends on how much rain is falling; with a heavy rain there is too much reflected light, as in fog or snow. That night it wasn't a problem.

I'm getting access to a heated garage this afternoon and hope to diagnose/solve the problem.

Well, I stand corrected, sort of. Both bulbs "exploded" at the same time. The speculation is that water intruded and caused the failure but the only evidence was glass shards in the housing of both. Dealer dismantled entire assembly to remove remnants of old bulbs and replaced with OEM; I'll miss the HIRs. The whole thing was 'very' expensive although I'm going to contact the local Acura rep to try and get some consideration. I expect that bulbs sensitive to moisture should be prortected from same.

If they are able to function as DRL and produce the same or brighter high beam I might consider it. I think it would be an expensive project if done properly..

Yes. I see the price has gone up.

The so-called Acura "Bumper to Bumper" does not include body parts, aka light enclosures, so no joy there according to the CSR with whom I spoke. Guess it doesn't include bumpers either.
