Help on searching for an RL

hey guys,

I've been around this forum for awhile. My family have an 2002 MDX and 2002 TL.. I had an 2005 S2000 that I was trying to sell but then last Tuesday I got into an accident and it got totaled... Now the insurance company is going to send me a check.. I'll be looking to get an RL or RDX but I'm leaning more towards the RL..

questions: Should I go for a 05 or 06? 07 and up is out of my price range..

I heard there were lots of bugs with the 05.. can anyone confirm this?

price range i should be looking to pay.. 05's seems to run $17-20 with an average of 60k miles...

and 06 are a bit higher.. but the ones close to the 20k, the interior doesn't look too good...

i found this online..
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
i'm not too crazy about the color but the set is just what i want.. Aspec Rims, Deck spoiler, wooden steering wheel and knob.. it looks really clean.. however at 41k miles and being an 2006, shouldn't it be Acura CERTIFIED?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I also saw this one... one of my top color choices... do you think i can go lower on the price?

thanks in advance for your help

No bugs... knock on wood... on my '05 RL. I think it depends on the VIN. Anything 17XXX and up seems to be basically an '06.

Do the basic checks. Look for matching VINS on the fenders, hood, trunk, doors, etc. Get the service records. Oil, tranny, and rear diff changes a must. Ask a tech to hook to the computer to see if the car has been dogged. Look for matching tires (not two replaced). Make sure all of the recalls have been done.

Check the clear coat especially on the roof, mine is starting to give.

If you want to spend a few dollars, do a compression check on the cylinders.

And be sure you have the correct radio and NAVI codes!!!

Are those the first five digits of the VIN that you are referring to?

You might find what you are looking for on our BM. I know a couple of people are selling their RL's, including myself, so you might find what you are looking for.

i would wait for a good condition 06 from a dealer, certified. try craigslist, lots of acura dealers use that also.

You're selling too?

To the OP: 2006s were generally bug free but if you get a 2005 in reasonable shape, it will still be worth a try.

A compression check on the cylinders? On an S2000, yes, but not on an RL. The Honda J35 is pretty bulletproof.

...and will also give peace of mind...

Good luck with the search. My 06 RL has been quite trouble free...one of the most reliable cars I have owned.

Yeah, looking into an SUV, most likely a 2011 MDX with the tech package, but I really really like the Audi Q7 as well.
