I have a guy at work who swears his Mazda 6 will waste my RL. I need any info that will help me in this debate... let me know what you think.

He might be right. It has a bigger engine, 3.7l v6 compared to our 3.5l (2010 RL has 3.7l.) It produces less HP (272 vs. 300), but it weighs 500 lbs less. I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

It might be faster but i bet it doesn't drive as nice as the RL.

 

How is this important?

I would never imagine two family capable four door sedans, abeit one more luxury and one more mainstream, being designed, engineered and marketed to 'waste' another non-purposed vehicle.

Could this not be similar to arguing whether a Ferrari or a roadster could 'waste' the other in cargo capacity, rear seat entertainment features or offroading capabilities?

I am always puzzled where automobile enthusiam became soley focused to conquer others as opposed to appease the driver / owner.

 

First off, I should say his has the 4 cylinder with the twin turbos. Not the 6 cylinder.

Also, I have shut him up because we are in Dallas/Ft Worth and thus each time we get going I ask him how it does standing still in traffic! Mine is quite comfortable and I am still in love with it. Regardless I am tired of him constantly pressing me about it so I figured there would be others on here who would have some knowledge on the subject.

my suggestion - sell your RL and go buy an EVO..

 

Challenge him to a race in the snow.

 

Take him to a twisty track. Don't forget to mash the accelerator in the curves. Race over. Next!

 

I am guessing he has the mazda speed 6 if its charged and I am pretty Sure its only a single turbo I-4 ... that being said it s the same eingine they put in the mazda speed 3... and while the that little hatch back is quick its bigger brother is not... I would destroy them in my Altima in a drag ( my RL actually put down the same times as my altima at a track ) and like Bob said take on some twistys and tell him bye.

 

I think it's tough to call who'd actually win this one...and I'm one of those who would try and try again
