Hello Fellow RL owners
Hello Fellow RL owners
Hey everyone, I just acquired a 2006 Acura RL with 73000 miles on it for $13,000. I just recently sold my 03 CL type S. I was sad to see it go but the RL is a great replacement. Love this site!!
Wow that is a great price! What condition is it in!? I bought a 2005 Acura RL is basically mint condition last year with 97,000 miles for $13,500. But wow that is a great price for 73,000 if the interior and exterior are in good condition! Do you have service records, etc?
If your car hasn't got certain upgrades and you have both the budget and desire, there are some great ones out there that can elevate the car's elegance and performance. First among these are the wood steering wheel and wooden shift knob (both sort of hard to find these days). After that, well you're off and running.

Thanks everyone, glad to be an RL owner. The CL 6speed was fun and fast but since im a tech guy the RL is way better as far as creature comfort. The car is in excellent condition not even a door dent! I brought it the the Acura dealership to have them do a full inspection to make sure every was legit and it was. Tested the CMBS yesterday and that works too.lol Pics to come

Nice looking ride man! Sounds like you got a steal. Those wheels are pretty nice too. Good fit on the RL. Any ideas on specs? If not, tell us what the tire size is.
Great price if she's in nice shape and, as you'll find from reading this (excellent) web site, the 2006 Lakeshore Silver RL is considered to be the high-water mark for all RL's, in terms of style, performance, and the proven intellect of those purchasing them. I trust you've got Lakeshore Silver. I mean, of course you do.

Yeah I don't know why Acura got rid of the mud guard in the 06 model. Weird. Thanks for all the Love. lol. Thanks 007Spy for loading the pics for me. Also thinking bout the back up cam but dealer wants 800 for it installed.
Acura did not get rid of them. They were never installed by the entry port prep or the dealer.
Some dealers were cheeky and charged new RL owners for them, many others (including mine) include them on all new purchases (as well as trunk trays, wheel locks, cargo covers or nets, etc).
The exception was to the cars with ASPEC side skirts and bumper kits, when they were deleted or removed for the ASPEC kit install.
And again, some people who put oversized wheel / tire packages where it created an clearance issue.
You can buy them online, easy install and if you use a short / stubby screwdriver, you need not remove the wheels for the install.

Props to BDoggPrelude for hitting it right on the spot as far as my wheel and tire combo. The tires size are 245/45/18. Do you guys know what is a good size tire for my factory rims? Looking to use them as winter rims this winter.

That car is a beautiful Lakeshore Silver Metallic, the best of course.
The other options are Celestial Silver Metallic/Platinum Frost Metallic (depending on the year) which is lighter and Carbon Grey Pearl which is darker.

Congrats on the purchase - great price.
You will have to install some kind of aux input if its not already included in your car. They generally run about $135 and offer ipod connectivity/control along with the ability for regular 3.5 jack

I'm assuming your factory wheels are the 17" wheels, not the PAX wheels. If they are the PAX wheels you are screwed. If they are 17's the only winter tire made in the stock 245/50/17 size is an insanely expensive runflat Bridgestone Blizzak. I ran 235/55/17's last winter and they worked just fine. Like NJ06RL said, you can also use a 225/55/17 which is the same overall rolling diameter as the stock size. I went with the 235's so I didn't lose as much contact patch for when it's dry out.
Grip is less in dry because they are winter tires more so than because of the loss of contact patch. Tires are a trade-off. To get more snow traction you have to give up dry traction. I ran Hankook Ice Bear's last winter. They definitely do not perform as well in snow as the Blizzak WS-70's I put on our TL and my Prelude the season before, but they also were a hell of a lot better on dry pavement. No tread squirm doing high speeds on the freeway and significantly better cornering and braking abilities. They will still trounce ANY all season tire in snow and ice traction though.
