Headlight out and need help

My drivers side headlight has been flickering occasionally when starting the car for several months. Last night it went out on my trip home. I turned off the car and restarted it and it came back on. Delray on line has the replacement for $157. It is #15 with the link provided.

Where can I get an exact equivalent for hopefully alot less?

Thanks,

Go to ijdmtoy.com and look for d2s bulbs. They have good bulbs and I am running a set now. Or order thru eBay under motormax. Same company.

I suggest you take the time now to change both bulbs for cheaper than a single factory bulb. HIDs change color over their life time, so it even if you get the exact same bulb as your passenger side, it will not be exactly the same look. You can pickup Philips ~4300k (same as factory) for around $80 a pair on Amazon. However, after looking at Carbon Legend's headlight projector project, I suggest moving to the Osram 5000k bulbs for maximum lumen output and white light color. I do not know how much they run or where to buy them, but you should be able to get two bulbs for less than $150. This is what I will do when one of my bulbs goes out, and I will always change in pairs (unless one gets physically damaged and the other is still relatively new into its life). I does not make sense financially or functionally to buy the factory bulbs one at a time.

If you don't want to wait for shipping, Napa parts has them for $79.
Multiple sources online for <$40, but make sure it is the D2S bulb. I ordered online and they sent me the High Beam bulb. Catalog did not specify which one it was.

When you change it, recommend stuffing rags underneath assembly because it is easy to drop the bulb when trying to fit it in.

Amazon has Kensun (whoever that is) 4300k bulbs at $24 a PAIR, INCLUDING the shipping. Half a dozen consumer reviews, and they all liked 'em. One or two said the light looked indistinguishable from the OEMs on their Infiniti G or Acura TSX.

Talk me out of it. Okay, go.

Check out Carbon's headlight build, and you will see why the Osram 5000k are the way to go.

Thanks for making me aware of that thread, 007. It certainly is very impressive.

But I was also impressed by the logic of db22's arguments about colder light and its relative ineffectiveness in foggy conditions. I've read other thoughts from far wiser heads than myself that argue the bluish light doesn't work as well with the night vision of the human eye -- blinds it more to the less illuminated areas.

Truth be told, I personally don't see the road as well with my RL's headlights as in our old '03 CR-V with warmer halogens and no distinct cutoff. Since I'm not really big into the look of the bright/white/blue, I'll opt for the 4300k OEM look myself. My eyes are getting older, and I need all the help I can get; obviously, YMMV.

To each their own. Safety is paramount and preference is a close second.

Out of curiosity, are your CR-V halogens aftermarket like Sylvania Silverstars or something? My wife's Civic stock bulbs are ridiculously dim. She complains that she can't see at night and thinks it is b/c of her poor vision, but I think it has more to do with the lack of lumens.

The CR-V has OEM headlights, but I added the factory-issue fogs through the dealership when I bought the car new, and I use them at all times. They do help, especially in the foreground and to the sides.
