Gotta love SH-AWD!
SH-AWD saved me and my son from being in an accident today. While driving on a farm road, the people in the car in front of me slammed on their brakes while I was doing about 55 (posted speed is 50). I had to slam on my brakes and still had to swerve into a freshly-harvested field where I let off the brakes and pressed on the accelerator and made my way back to the road. The brakes were rough, but responsive on the street, however, I never once lost traction in the field and was back on the road in seconds.
This part is lucky. I have zero knicks, dents, or scratches. My alignment is fine so far. Luckily there was no drainage ditch. The only negative thing that happened was that I got a little mud on the car.
I was a little shaken up, but the car made me feel so much more confident in it. Gotta love the SH-AWD!

Thank you! The car in front of them turned off down a dirt road. I couldn't see in front of the car in front of me.
Yeah, I know, the brakes are definitely less than exceptional. Maybe I'll do SS brake lines first. I still have a lot left on the pads.
Got some PNero Zero's; they're pretty sticky. At least, according to my mpg!

SS lines definitely make a good difference but without new pads and slotted rotors they are still kinda weak. I say upgrade the rotors so you don't have to destroy the stock one's as I did on my TL, repeatedly.
Tak, Thank God you drive an awesome car. I could imagine what it could have been like with a lesser car. I think you should get some sticky brake pads like I have and you will stop on a dime compared to stock pads. I have raced the car around some sharp corners and it goes almost 90 deg. around it is so quick with the SH-AWD.
After a day or two of snow and ice, the stop lights at an intersection were out... blinky yellow for my right of way and red for the other way to stop.
I creep to the intersection at about 25mph, looking at directions, and a dude comes fast from the red side sliding into the middle of the intersection. I gun the RL turn a fast left then a fast right on the other side of the intersection.
The MF handled like on dry pavement... I'm a firm believer in SHAWD.

No kidding, I was on Balfour so I just squished a few vegetables!
Great info here! Glad all is well, makes me respect my lowered jdm fanboyed out with 21lb wedssport sa55m wheels with slotted rotors and ebc yellow stuff pads as well as the awesome platform honda designed with luxury and performance and safety in mind!
Considering the thread is, oh, about 8 months old and only touches on a past event that will never replicate, I think it will be okay.

And I meant the tips. I suppose the camera angles were playing a trick, but they didn't look exactly stock.

+2 to that. But I've been driving my RL for a month now, and I've felt the OEM Michelin Pilots are pretty weak for the drivetrain. I would expect a better choice of tire from Acura.
I had the same incident happen in an Olds Cutlass many years ago. Going a lot faster on a state highway in Arkansas.
Put a big figure eight in a farmers fresh planted and damp cotton field. Kept the speed up to keep from getting stuck.
Unfortunately there was a ditch, bump on the head, wobbly rear wheel all the way home (bent wheel shaft). The funniest part was both rear wheels had a lot of green grass embedded between the rims and tires.
The RL, with its low front, would still be in the ditch ?
