Got my 30-40mph whine fixed

I have a 2006 RL. I recently got the 30-40mph whine/howl noise when cold. Started a few weeks ago. Only happened 1 or 2 times on the initial drive after sitting for a few hours then went away. The colder it was the worse it got. The car has 85k on it. I brought it in and got the car back within a day, they also gave me a 2010 TL loaded to drive as a courtesy car . They replaced the driveshaft. The center bearing of the DS is what was causing the noise when cold. Noise is now gone and the car is silent again.

Yup, known problem. I had exactly the same problem with my 2006 and the same repair. In fact, there's a long thread about this somewhere that I'll likely merge this thread in with.

Hey. I think i have the same problems. I bought my car to the dealership and they cant determine whats wrong with it because the noise is random. sometimes it makes the noise and sometimes it doesnt. what does the noise sounds like?

The best way to describe is a howl around 30-40mph, kind of like feedback. It ONLY happened when the car sits and its cold out.

I posted in that thread as well.

Yes it was covered under my Acura Care extended warranty. It cost me $100

Yup they took care of me. My Acura dealer is a very good place. I work for a dealership Nissan/Jeep and the group actually owns 9 other stores, one being Acura so they hooked me up

Bought an 05 RL in Jan 2011 with 45K miles (pristine condition for $21.5k), heard the whine, did my research and the dealership installed a new drive shaft yesterday at no charge to me. They gave me a 2011 TL for a loaner and I could not wait to get my car back. The RL is a great ride for a great price (all things considered).
I do have a slight air noise coming from the right rear window which I have not pinpointed yet but other than that I am extremely satisfied. Jones Acura in Lancaster has a great team with great service, highly recommend them.
