Is this a good price for an RL?
Hey guys I was thinkin about upgrading to an RL and I went to go take a look at one today. It was an OBP 2005 with 70k and they were asking $17k for it at the dealership (it was at a MB preowned lot). It seemed like it was in pretty good condition on the outside...it had a small scratch or two (maybe 2mm wide and and almost 2 inch across) on the passenger side but it was faint. I'd give it like a 7.5-8. The wheels and tires looked in good shape as well. I didn't see any dents either so that was cool. The interior was in alright condition but had a few small issues. The steering wheel was fading (no biggie) and the buttons looked more worn then usual. The leather was in good shape and so did the screen and I'd give the upholstery like an 8 and carpet looked good as well. One issue I had was the cigarette lighter and the small storage bin in the center console are both stuck open. As far as the drive goes it was great! The car felt good and though I could tell it was heavier then my TL, I also felt the AWD, which was awesome. I gave it some gas doing a U-turn on a service road and the way the car rocked the turn put a smile on my face! The brakes felt good and the TPMS showed good tire pressure in the tires and the only issue I had was that it was needing an alignment (strayed a little to the right). So we end up going back and crunching numbers and I negotiated the price down a bit and got it down a grand to $16000 and got him to give me another $500 on my car's trade in. Do you think it's a good deal? I wish I had taken pictures...that would've been smart lol Anyways thanks in advance for the help guys!

The issues with the ashtray and the cigarette lighter are a really easy fix, they are both a $3 little plastic clip that gets worn out and needs to be replaced. It took me about 5 minutes to fix the cig lighter and about 10 to fix the ashtry just because you have to remove some peices to get to it. 16000 is not bad at all IMO. i got my 2005 with 49k on it for just under 20000 last year. The scratch depending on how deen it is and if it bother you, ask the dealer that you want the scratch fixed im sure they will be able to help you out especially if they know you are actually going to buy the car. Same thing with the alignment. Other than that i think it is a pretty good deal. Miles on it are pretty high but what do you expect from a 5 year old car. Look at some of the other posts of people getting over 200,000 miles. Just a little TLC and the car will pay for itself

Okay sounds good...thanks for the help! I know it's comparing apples to oranges but its between this car and an 08 G35 sedan. It's got 70k on it and the dealer is asking 16.8 for it. The only issue is that its in Norman, OK which is like a 3 hour drive away...but I think I'm gonna go check it out in the morning since I don't work until the late afternoon tomorrow. If that doesn't work out or if I don't end up liking it I'll make sure to offer this dealer with the RL $15k and see what he says. If he can do it for that much then I think I might have to jump on it. I really appreciate the feedback guys!

Yeah I went to go check it out and I really didn't like the condition it was in...first and foremost it smelled like cigarettes Secondly it looked and felt like it was driven hard (for a two year old car it shouldn't be cosmetically as bad as it was). Finally he showed me the carfax and I discovered that it had been used as a rental, which made my decision to walk out even easier. Wish I had known all this before I drove 2.5 hours to Oklahoma lol. What was even better was that I got pulled over on the way there for no front license plate, but got off with a warning tho and on the way back I got a flat and then the AAA lady couldn't even locate me. I had to call off work and it sucked lol but it's all good at the end of the day. I want to change one more part on my TL to see if I can get rid of this insane vibration/shaking in the wheel, and if that solves it I'm just gonna stick with that car, if not I'm gonna go with the RL. Yall rock for the help

Hey guy's just to bump up this thread...I found an 05 OBP RL with Just over 80k on the clock and I went to go check it out today. The exterior was in better condition as well as the interior (the exterior mainly though). The interior had those same clip issues but from what you guys said I'm not worrying about that at all. This thing drove much better then the other one too! The power was nice and linear and the car didn't pull any way at all and felt very tight and smooth at higher speeds. Again the steering wheel buttons looked really worn but that's just me mentioning for the hell of it. The only real knock I had on this car was that the drivers side side mirror was vibrating like I had the bass up all the way...but I just found a thread on how to fix that so no worries. So I talked him down to $13,995 and he's giving me more then the other dealer was for my TL. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one. I'm taking my mechanic with me to check it out in the morning and I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Sorry! haha So I went and loved the car and went in for financing and that's where I had an issue. Since my student loans just posted on my credit as of last month (that's when the university dispersed the loan) that it brought my score down a little and made my interest rate go up...I didn't like that and I tried calling around to my bank and lendingtree and they were giving me about the same rate. I figured I'm just going to suck it up through the summer and just have my TL paid off and then go from there. It was a nice RL I hope it get's a good owner...as for my TL I think I'm gonna change the wheels up and hopefully that solves some of the issues I'm having with it so we'll just wait and see...thank's for the help guys!
