Glad I bought the RL a year ago

So its about a year since I bought this 08 RL. I have no regrets about it.

Just hit 25K miles (roughly 88k on the car) for the year of ownership - though it was in the shop for about 6 weeks and I put 3k on the rental car.

It's been solid. Really all I have done to it (besides the accident it was in) is oil changes, air filter, and an alignment.

My only complaints (still) is that I cannot press dial on my Blackberry and have it go through the bluetooth, and no fold down rear seats. I travel with a lot of stuff.

Best MPG I got was driving from Vegas to Fort Collins - no wind 31.7. And I have a picture of when I drove from Jackson Wyoming to Fort Collins.
443 miles - 370 of which I drove from Pinedale to home straight - no stops. (5.22 in the car). I know the avg mph says 55 - but it didn't reset before I left Jackson hole. Also - that was one tank of gas with 107 miles of range left.

Mostly I average about 28.1 on the highway and mixed driving. The worst I got was last week - highway and wind was 23 mpg to Casper.

City is terrible - maybe 16 - but I don't drive it much around town.

Passing power in D3 is Great - never an issue - handling good, reliabilty has been good so far, gas mileage exceeded my expectation.

I do not understand the "pressing dial on the Blackberry". My Blackberry is never touched when I'm in the car - everything is from the controls of the car.

I have to voice dial out to get the blutooth to work. I cannot just press dial on my address book and have it connect. I may be doing something wrong - but I don't think so. I have 4-500 contacts and I know 3 numbers by heart.

In addition I did program about half (25) contacts into the cars system - but then I forgot who I put in there. After the accident - it erased them all. Please tell me more.

I know but I need UMA calling and they were one of the only phones that had it for my service provider. Not many phones have (or had) the capability, when I was looking.

I think you are expecting the HFL to do something it does not.

If you are pressing dial on your BB device...the RL HFL will not automatically pick up the call. You are initiating the call from the device (BB) not the HFL.

You can:

1) Initiate the call by the BB auto dial > wait for connection > Press HFL TALK button and 'TRANSFER' the call. The HFL will then carry the call.

2) Dial the number directly from the HFL: Press TALK > say number > Press Talk > say DIAL.

3) Dial from the HFL using a saved voice tagged contact you previously entered into the HFL address book. Press TALK > say CALL 'contact name' > press TALK > say DIAL.

yeah I had the same issue, that and corporate security features.

Luckily now most smart phones have caught up.

I also have a prob with bluetooth and my iphone. For numbers not programmed in the HFL, I have to wait until the person I'm calling answers until it can transfer to speakers. However on my Accord, it will transfer even while the phone is still ringing.

I think that's a BB thing. I can do this from my Samsung Galaxy III. I do it all the time for numbers that aren't in my HFL phone book. Once my phone BT is connected to the HFL i pull up a contact on my phone press dial and the HFL automatically picks up and i hear everything through the HFL.

Hmm - the only way a call initiated from my phone will go to HFL is if I say the command "Transfer"

Any thoughts on this? When I am listening to a book on cd and someone calls in - the cd doesn't pause, so when I am done with the call and hangup - the story is a few chapters ahead. Any settings to pause the cd? My BMW paused the stereo (except radio) when I had an incoming call and resumed when i hung up.

There are other threads about that issue. Ur best bet is to pause the book before hand.

I too have a bb. I will have to try the transfer command but what I usually do is dial out and then hit the bb pad( left to the track pad) and scroll down to where it says transfer to hands free tm. Voila! Hands free

Cool- I will try that next time. The Transfer did work - but it waits until the line is connected before I can transfer. Unfortunately my phone doesn't have a ring tone so I cannot anticipate when someone picks up. But it is much more helpful than trying to voice dial a client while on the highway - especially if I miss dial - so frustrating.
