Gas Cap problems in RL
A week ago we had a really bad freeze in our area and when I went
out to gas up my RL, the attendant had an impossible time getting
the cap back on.
So, I left the gas cap loose in the locked door for a few days, that is,
until a warning light came on about a gas cap problem.
So, I unlocked the gas door and since it was warmer, I was able to
screw the gas cap back on tightly (a couple clicks).
Problem is, the dashboard info. center is still flashing me warning
messages about my gas cap. Can't get rid of the message, and I'm
wondering why it's still warning me of a problem.
Any suggestions?

It may take a number of engine re-starts for the warning light to go out. The system has to verify that the pressure loss has been corrected. Some cars (Audi) will not reset automatically; I'm not sure about Acura.

Burning Brakes
Similar thing happend to our MDX. Even after making sure the cap was screwed on securely (very hard to turn), the warning light would not go off. Turned out to be a bad gas cap. A little plastic tab was bent so even though it was on tight, it wasn't making a good seal. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

EDIT: Just checked my RL. It doesn't have the same plastic tabs on the gas cap that the RL does but if the light stays on, I'd have the gas cap checked out anyway.

Safety Car
There is another thread that went through all of this about a year or more ago. In that thread, I posted the text from the Owner's Manual that addressed this problem. The car has to be driven a certain amount of time and distance over a certain speed, in order for it to verify that the fuel vapor emissions system is not leaking (an open or loose cap means the system is leaking fumes into the atmosphere, which of course is an emissions issue).
This does not have to be dealer reset as the other message implies must happen with the Audi.

I appreciate you reposting this. I'm happy to learn that I will not
have to make a trip to my dealer and that over a period of normal
driving the problem will just take care of itself. Thank you!

Hope yours goes away... it's very annoying b/c it kept coming up to check on the NAV screen and would freeze sometimes...and take like 5 minutes to go away. Stranges thing?
