First off, make sure you're tightening it properly Upon tightening, let it click 3-4 more times. If that still doesn't work, it's possible your gas cap has a leak and is letting gas vapor out. But note that the gas cap CEL doesn't go away immediately. Use an OBDII scanner to delete the code and then see if the light comes back on.
