Folding Side-view Mirrors

I am in the early stages of researching the 2007 RL. I was at a dealership over the weekend and I could have sworn he demonstrated the side mirrors folding in with the touch of a button on the drivers door. This would make entry into my garage (which is a close but comfortable fit with our Accord) much easier. However I can't find any mention of this feature on the Acura website or in any of the sales material the dealer gave me. Was I dreaming? If not is this feature new for 2007?

Thanks,

Patrick

Welcome to AZ!

I think you were dreaming. The side mirrors fold manually, but the mirrors do tilt down automatcially when you are in reverse.

The Japanese Legend's have this feature, but the USDM RL doesn't

Thanks. I must be remembering it from the 335i test drive I had a few days before. It does seem to be a very attractive combination of features.

It's more important in Japan (and Europe) where city streets are narrow and you don't want the things sticking out into the road when you park curbside. That's not a huge problem in the US, even in cities our streets are pretty wide.

My wife's M-B R350 has the fold-in feature. It is useful in narrow parking lot spaces. Now if only the doors didn't open so wide!

My mirrors don't tilt down when in reverse. It must be a menu setting that I haven't figured out yet. I suppose I'll have to peruse the manuals again.

It is possible to do so. I have a friend who owns a 1996 Legend and he purchased the kit from Japan.
It works fine and he placed the switch next to the fog light one.
You'll need to purchase the JDM mirror housing and wires.

Move the side view mirror switch to either side (not the middle), the corresponding mirror will tild when you put the car in reverse.

Thanks. That did it. By habit I leave it in the center position so that they can't accidentally be moved.

Red face

I do not see it in the 2007 LEGEND brochure (Euro version).

I cannot read the Japanese version!

But when I drove a LEGEND in Japan, I do not remember that being a feature. Could be I was too focused on the slick night vision viewer!

folding mirrors is not an option, its standard. With all the feature available on the Legend, i dont think they'll list everything.

I dont think EDM Legend has that feature. its not considered a luxury feature, but a convinience feature as parking spaces are pretty small in Japan. so i dont think you'll find the feature anywhere but Japan.
And i think once i'm doing with the parts i'm applying to my RL, i'll consider the folding mirrors

I believe you are right Qatar. It may be standard on the Japanese LEGEND, but I just cannot read that brochure to verify!

Heh. My 2004 Nissan Maxima had power folding mirrors. Except for showing it off to a few amazed friends, I never used it.

If you mean the tilt down feature, yes. See page 155 of the manual.

If you mean power folding side mirrors, no US RL has this feature to date.
