Floor Mats

So I'm still getting used to my RL and I've noticed that the floor mats suck. They slide around and cover up the gas pedal sometimes. I have them latched at the bottom but they still seem to squirm out when I get in and out of the car. Anyone have this same problem or have any suggestions? I was thinking of buying the All Weather Floor Matts and found them on ebay for $100 plus $12 shipping. Thoughts?

I have no issues with the floor mats, although I use the all weather mats on top of the regular mats, although I believe you are supposed to remove the carpeted mats.

Anyway, no sliding issues before I got the mats, although I hardly used them before my order from Hondacuraworld came in.

I second buying the all weather mats. They fit well and don't slide.

dhag8, are your floor mats hooked in properly. They should not slide if hooked, mine don't.

I have to re hook them every couple of days because they come unattached when I get in and out of the car. That's why I'm thinking of getting the all weather mats.

FWIW, I have my all weather mats on top of the regular floor mat, and the hooks are too short to hook all the way through for both, but the all weather mats really do not move. I don't know if the little purchase the hooks offer do anything. I think the grips on the back of the all weather mats are very sufficient.

Bottom line, buy the mats, they work well especially in rain, mud and snow, although I am not sure how snowy Dallas will be.

Good

I have my all weather mats on top of the regular floor mat. They are really good and they wont move an inch. They proved to be very good for our Boston climate. I am happy with them . I bought those when I bought the car from the dealer...I think OEM are pretty good in quality.

Floor Mats

Ditto what most everyone else said. I place my all weather mats over the carpeted mats- they won't hook, but they don't move around either.

I will say that after I get a car wash the guys many times place the mats in askew so I have to replace them properly- one time is was hugging the accelerator and that could've caused a problem.

I don't have a problem with mats sliding, but the hooks on the passenger side face the opposite direction as driver's. Seems odd - Is this normal?

If you want Acura mats, I believe those are the only two colors. Did you call your parts department. They will tell you for sure.

Gray, I think you have to go aftermarket.

They do make the OEM All Weather Mats in Gray (Taupe) also. Perhaps a little more difficult to find.

I don't like the all weather mats. In winter they hold all the slushy water and my pant cuffs get wet. I liked the the all weather mats on my Jag, that had a small carpeted area also.

Interesting about the color. I looked up that part number for the gray ones on acuraoemparts.com and it returned a description for ivory. I then went to the interior accessories for an 05 rl, and it only gave black and ivory as an option.

Thanks, I received a response from the seller and his response was that they are more gray then ivory. Not very encouraging as the stock ivory mats are darker than the parchment interior so it appears they are actually ivory and not a true gray.

Shame as I did want to pick these up.
Acura wants $200.00 for a new set of carpet mats.

Quote below is from an earlier thread...I didn't care too much for the OEM mats either...I thought they looked cheap and the color showed dirt too easily. In a subsequent post I noted that my Berber mats from Autosport were tan. These are still in the Autosport catalog. Mine have held up well in the 2005 Rl now at 132,000. I just now installed a like set in my '94 Honda Accord.

I've decided that I don't care for heel protectors...I can feel any grit that sits on them. Also, I've never used my all weather mats mentioned in the earlier post...they still smell industrially rubbery and are in the garage at my present location...with a new puppy I thought about putting the rear ones in...she gets car sick...but so far haven't used them. Very often, I have occasion to get in and out of the car in muddy conditions but carry a pair of LLBean shoes in the passenger side for such occasions and take them off when I get back into the car. I've not had any problems with the Berber mats, and I think they look very good in the RL.

"After taking delivery of my RL, I immediately ordered a set of berber mats in taupe for my tan interior RL.. Get a catalog, which shows the mats better than the link below. The taupe color is darker than the mats which came with the car and IMHO are quite attractive sitting on top of the tan floors. A couple other car enthusiast sites sell these...Griot's, for one if I'm not mistaken, and Avery makes them. These are OK and feel good underfoot...I drive without shoes. These mats do not have a heel protector, which may affect them long term, but for the price, I'll get another set.

I bought the all season ones from the dealer, and these look great for wintertime, and I'll certainly use them. But these are too industrial and rubbery smelling for my sensibilities (?) otherwise."

I got the all weather mats a few months ago and like them very much. They sent me the gray ones which go well with the taupe interior. Well worth the $$ IMO.

Just got my all weather floor mats as well -- very nice.

Question for you guys who put them over your stanard mats:

Other than simply the convenience of putting them on top during the winter and removing them during the summer -- for what reason are you doing this and not just installing the all weather themselves.

While most likely negligiable, I was thinking that the floor height would be slightly rasied...

I got rid of my regular mats and run the all-seasons year-round. Cleveland=rainy summers and snowy winters as a general rule.

I've got the all season mats on top of the regular mats simply because I dont have any place else to put them. I figure if they'll sit on a shelf somewhere in my garage then they might as well just stay in the car. Better question is why didn't Acura make the all season mats in parchment color to match the rug? I had to use the black ones instead as I didnt think the taupe looked so good on top of parchment.
