Finally -- search has ended.

I've been searching for the right color combo, features (technology package), and price for about a year and I’ve just received delivery of my 2006 RL Tech (CMBS/ACC/PAX). I live in the Chicagoland area and had the car shipped from the East Coast.

A funny story -- my second choice color was Meteor Silver Metallic, but I was willing to purchase this car even though it was Meteor Silver because it met the vast majority of my criteria.

The risk was that I’ve never seen a Meteor Silver RL in person. So, as the delivery truck was pulling up I was hoping I would like the color as much as I had convinced myself I would. When I first saw it, I was very pleasantly surprised -- it looked perfect, exactly what I wanted! However, it wasn’t until after the car was unloaded from the truck that I realized that the car was actually my first choice color, Celestial Silver Metallic! So basically, the Acura dealer I bought it from did not know the differences between the silver colors. The pictures online were taken with a low quality camera and I never fully suspected it to be Celestial Silver until it arrived. I’m sure I would have very much enjoyed Meteor Silver, but am pleased to have the dealer error on my favor.

The car is a 2006 w/ Technology package and ebony interior – pretty much mint.

The RL has replaced my 1995 Acura Integra GSR which currently has over 340,000 miles. I bought the car with high miles about 8 years ago for $100.00 with a blown engine. (no joke) I rebuilt the engine and have driven it as my daily driver ever since.

The sacrifices have been well worth the wait. I’ll update this thread with pictures this week.

So why buy out of state? Prices that high in your area?

I am just taking a stab in the dark here, but I assume the 10.25 % shopping tax in Chicago might have had something to do with that. I think that might now be the highest in the nation, with seattle right behind at 9.25 %

Being a Chicago native all my life (up until last year), I can say for certain that sales taxes are irrelevant. In Illinois you have to pay sales tax on the purchase price of the car when you go to register it, so it doesn't matter where you purchased it.

There were not any tax savings buying out of state as GoHawks suggessted.

I still paid my local county's tax-rate when I registered the vehicle.

The reason I shipped it in was because it was exactly what I wanted and simply could not find it locally.

2006 Silver exterior, Ebony Exterior, Technology package (CMBS/ACC/PAX), less than 30,000 miles -- near mint condition.

No complaints, loving the car thus far. CMBS activated today while doing some testing with ACC -- very impressive.
