Exterior chrome trim around window.

I was wondering if anybody else have done this before I had a bike rack on top of my RL and slowly it started to mess up the black tape around the door trim. I saw a little piece pull back and noticed it was chrome trim under from factory, so since it was already faded and burnt from the Sun and now it was peeling I decided to just go ahead and peel it all off has anybody else ever done this?

Bike rack damage.

Before.

Before, you can notice the faded black.

Didn't know Thule made a kit for the RL, thought it was only Yakima.

Nice find. Would you mind posting a photo of the whole car with the new chrome showing?

I'm interested to see how it looks, I am about to re-paint my trim, but this may be another option.

That's not a dirty car.

I think the look works, especially with your wheels. I normally have been against those style wheels, but your car looks really nice.

Thanks! I am the same on the wheels they look nice but not what I really want but since I daily the car about 60 miles a day these where perfect in case I messed them up they wouldn't hurt the wallet so much. F1R brand paid like 1600 mounted and balanced so not bad I was tired of seeing the car lowered on stock wheels. so I guess u can say I was "thirsty"

Thanks for the pics! Doesn't look bad at all, but I'm gonna stick with the factory look. And I agree, nice looking car.

you have to peel the black part to reveal the chrome underneath.

What do you mean PACK the black piece, I tried peeling it, it's very hard to do. What did you use to peel it off.

sorry I misspelled that probably meant to say cut. But I used a razor black along the edges and then started stripping back in as many pieces as I could. The warmer it is outside the better of not use a heat gun it helps alot!
