Thanks, those are completely done in PS, no CGI, and yeah, they look like whitewalls, but wait till I get the prototype and shoot those. Just want to point out, that I really won't be making anything at all with such a low order that I am placing. I am basically testing the market. i would only be raking in the dough if I sold 100 or more sets every month of this particular wheel. I am projecting 4 sets a month, and that would be good.

Rondog,
Those are hot but I am not sure if I want such a large diameter. Will it only be available in 20"'s? I think 18" or 19" inches will satisfy me. I personally would like to be able to maintain more ubber on my tires to keep my ride smotther on rougher surfaces. I cant wait to see it on an 05 RL, perhaps that will tell the real story.

rondog,
If you're looking for feedback, I'm also with Hou-RL. While I like the look of the 20's, I am concerned with ride quality and would prefer to stay with something a little more conservative, for me that means up to 19".

I had 18" OEM wheels on my SC430 and found out the hard way that there were very few tire dealers in my area that even handled THAT size wheel. I had a flat tire one Sunday and called around to places like Tire Kingdom and Sears and was told their equipment couldn't handle 18" wheels. I had to use fix-a-flat and wait until Monday for one of the few shops that carried 18" tires to open. I can only imagine what it would be like trying to balance and rotate 20" wheels or replace the tires.
I'll pass on the 20"s, but keep us posted on anything smaller.

I don't know if you guys remember but the prototype RL came on 20 inch rims.

Exactly!! The prototype wasn't driven on a the streets on a regular basis. I have a need for this vehicle to have enogh rubber to compensate for the reduction in diameter. 20's will look really good since they fill up the wheel wells but I have had plenty of experience in knowing that less rubber will affect the ride dramatically. Also, the cost for the tires will be increase greatly simple because they are 20"s. And be assured that I dont roll with just any 'ol tire. I'm just hoping that RonDog will develop an 18" or 19 " rims and then I am going too seriously consider those for the RL. I want my car to remain true and remove any possible error on the speedo. I dont want to forget how fast I am going when I am driving.

If we could organize a group buy for those wheels, they could be done in 19" and I would just need 4 guys to participate. go to the first post that started the thread, and review the options. then reduce the price to $750 per wheel or $3000 even for 4 wheels. That is truly at whole sale cost. If you guys want the highest quality of wheel with the design concept I have pictured, and the most perfect fit just like OEM, then this is the offer you can take advantage of. Once again, these are multi-piece all Forged wheels:
Finishes:
-Silver Face Polished Lip
-Black Face Polished Lip
-Full Polish
-Full Chrome (Extra)
-Custom Color (Extra)
2005 RL Specs
19x8.5-size
5x120-Bolt pattern
+45 mm-offset
64.1-Center-bore (hubcentric)
Special Seats to accept OEM lugs, perfectly.
Optional OEM Acura "A" centercap.
Each wheel will cost $750, or $3000 for a set of four, no tires.
If we can get 10 guys to get in, the price would really be ALOT lower.

Wheels look great! I'm really digging the design... I wish Acura hadn't used the odd lug pattern (5x120) on the RL, us other Acura owners can't benefit from these sweet wheels!

I would prefer to use lowering springs to decrease the wheel well, well I still love the wheel, but 19"s is what I'm looking for.

rondog: will you be offering these wheels in 19s for the 3rd gen TL? If we get 10 people in the groupbuy, what will be the approx. cost of each set?

The RL has a different lug pattern than the TL

Rondog,
Before I can commit to a group buy and I am willing to do so. I need to understand if the rims will make the car sit taller. I am not sure if I am describing this correctly. I want to rim to fill in the wheel well a little more and allow the car to continue to maintain the same stance. I dont want my car to look it has been jacked up by adding the rims and tires. This means that I will have to compensate on the tires probably. However, I do not want to lose a lot of rubber between the rim and the ground. I am hoping to see the results when you have your preliminary set of 20"s ready to put on an RL.

Hou-RL,
If I understand your request correctly, what you want is to reduce the gap above the wheel. If this is true, I believe that this can only be accomplished in a limited number of ways:
1. Lower the car (replace the springs)
2. Increase the overall wheel+tire dimension
For option #1, the whole car will be lower to the ground, and the gap above the wheel will be reduced.
For option #2, while this will reduce the gap, it is not recommended since this will throw off the speedo by a (possibly) large amount, depending on the change in overall wheel dimension. You can calculate the amount that changing the dimension will cause using "plus size" calculators available on some of the wheel/tire dealers websites.

When I went throught the "Fuse 5 pull/replace" exercise I saw an option to make adjustments for wheels - I didn't go in to examine this option, but it led me to believe that it allowed to compensate for different wheel/tire sizes to be in calibration with the speedometer. - Your...and others thoughts?
#39
When I looked at the option, my first thought that was it was to calibrate the tire sensors, but I can see how it could be used to compensate for wheel diameter/circumference.
I haven't had the guts to try anything out with these diagnostic modes yet, I guess I'm chicken and waiting for others to try it out first. Anyone know a good Acura service technician that can help us?
Even if it did adjust for increased wheel diameter, I'm not sure that trying to compensate for the gap using "oversize" wheels and tires is the right approach. What are you going to run, 20" rims and 275/50/20 tires? This will also raise the car off the ground
If you want to close the gap, lowering springs are the preferred option (IMO), which will also make the car look sportier by lowering the car in general.
