2005 RL- have had a rpm related wobble noise from the drive belt side of the engine(wa wa wa wa, etc-- increases frequency with acceleration). Sounds like could have been the belt, but wasn't. I know there are a lot of idler pulleys etc on the belt, as well as A/C compressor etc. Anyone else have this problem?? My serivce guy said I needed to wait until the noise got worse until he could take it in to fix it. Right now he couldn't-or won't- trouble shoot it. That doesn't sound right to me!!

Could you record the sound somehow? I have a similar problem where a whine increases with acceleration/rpm.

 

does it sound like a metal tapping sound?

 

more of a metallic tapping sound would describe it. sounds like maybe a bearing of some sort is shot.

as mentioned, the service manager could not identify it, though he definitely heard it ! it is a slow wha wha at idle and increases as I increase the rpm. cannot really hear it while driving as other noise drowns it out.

stopped at a light with windows down you can definitely hear it.

 

where in ny are you? i believe ive had the same sound since i purchased the car, its coming from the crank pulley.

I would ask that the Acura Service rep get involved if they do not want to fix it NOW.
