ECU chip for RL. GOOD OR BAD??

hey guys so i was looking around, trying to get a little bit more performance and a little more fuel Eco friendly. so i was wondering if any of you guys have seen these and maybe decided to try it. does it really work?? or is stock the best way and just go with cold air intake, and maybe light weight pully, and jpipe. but remember thats more money. i posted 2 different chip's.

SMH OP, those chips are just as bad as the "tornado" for your air intake.

in all seriousness if you want to save money on fuel you have to buy a FWD car that runs on 87 octane.

Otherwise just build an RL you like to drive so it doesnt hurt as much when it needs fuel

I get 30mpg highway on 87 fuel in my Genesis, RWD, 333hp and full size.

Wow, Hondata's never done a chip for ANY J-series? I'm surprised.

Are the ricers where all the money is? Are our engines just too complex electronically to reverse-engineer? (I doubt that last one.)

You sure that wasn't 87 mpg on 30 octane fuel?

thanks for all the high school talk, almost forgot what that sounded like, glad Tampa discovered the thanks button.

The next AWD sedan doing 30mpg is the RLX, not counting GS and whatever else.

I was trying to make a point that you don't need a 4 cylinder car to get decent mileage now a days.

Thanks for turning that into something unrelated.

Those chips are both good and bad.

Good for the company selling a resistor in a box. Bad for the person buying the resistor in a box.

037, when did you buy a Hyundai? I bet that thing is wicked fast bro. It probably pulls hard on those little 5.0 'Stangs, huh?

bought the Genesis last June, it's much faster than I thought it would be, and that's just the V6. Do I detect a hint of irony there comparing to the 5.0 mustangs?

well, it runs right next to 335s and 135s on the highway I can tell you that much, and it makes fun of GS460s and 300Cs so all jokes aside...good value for the money.

why are we discussing my car again? I should post pictures since the thread is getting side tracked anyway...

wow thanks for the side tracking. lmao..

i really dont mind. but thanks for letting me know, and yes i think i might sell the car for the New Genesis r-spec. looks hot and pulls.

but all notes aside i guess chips are made good for our acuras. guess ill have to suck it up which i dont have a problem paying or sell her. might make a thread on which car should be next.

Wait a min. Let me side track my own thread here. lol what car should i get for a good value and good gas mileage. not an awd because we all know it eats gas like crazy. Yet that really sucks because i wanted the Subaru 2012 STI wide body.

Sigh (not to you, OP, but to the thread hijacking )

The only ECU chip for the RL was made by Amuse and it hasn't been available for years. Hondata will never make anything for the RL because there is minimal to no market for it. If you are interested in ECU tuning, your only bet is to find a local guy who specializes in Honda tuning to figure it out.

Autowave in the LA area installed a Comptech supercharger in an RL and there was apparently some tuning therein, maybe one could ask them for a bit of help.
