Smile Dyno completed today. Baseline runs.

Finally got around to getting a dyno completed.
Dynojet of course.

Went pretty well and the car pulled strongly.
Only mod on the car are Pulsar plugs.

3 runs with a max of 208hp and 195lbs tq.

Next dyno will include mods such as exhaust, intake, pulley, jet computer, throttle spacer. Perhaps that J-Pipe will be ready.

I did question the spike at 5300rpm and they said it was common on many vehicles as the torque converter is locking up. None of my other cars ever exhibited this.

You said your only Mod is the Pulsar plugs. Can you clarify what this is and what it does? How did bob dyno and run only 200whp with intake and exhaust He probably did have a problem with the dyno.

I believe Bob ran his on a Mustang dyno which gives lower numbers vs a Dynojet.

All of my runs were in 3rd which I missed to state above. All runs were consistent. 1100ft elevation.

Pulstar plugs are the new spark plugs on the market . There is a discussion about them here on this forum. Older versions were crappy in quality but the newer versions (which I have) appear to have rectified those issues-hey, I got them for free. I know I am seeing a 1.5mpg increase but have no proof on HP/TQ numbers other than it does feel snappier. 5hp would be very difficult to judge seat of the pants. Google dynos on them.

Anyhow, it will take a few weeks (month) to install the other mods.

Wheels are 20" forged but are still a bit heavier vs stock.

Crap! I was in Valencia today! Wish I could have seen that.
One question... Was the transmission in Manual or Auto mode during the dyno pulls?

Ahh, would have been nice to have a few fellow members there. Perhaps next dyno.
Car was in manual mode so that the motor can reach it's redline as well as stay in gear.

I would like to compare graphs if others that have dyno'd theirs can post them up.

Thanks for the baseline dyno. Isn't it amazing how flat our torque curve is? Mine was done on a Mustang, which "reads low".

Just imagine how beautiful the car will sound with an exhaust when your're on the dyno the next time. My 5Zigen is just. so. sweet. I recall when I had my post-mod dyno that the WRX guys, after marvelling at "that big assed transfer case" with the "trick AWD", uniformly commented positively on the exhaust sound. Much respect gained that day.

Bob, does your graph indicate the same spike?

No. I'll repost my dyno sheet when I get a chance. It's been busy this week, so it may be the weekend before I do so.

It's amazing how big of a spike occurs at the cam shift. I wonder if we would be able to garner some extra "early" bump by lowering the crossover point..

On the other hand, I wonder if the intake/exhaust and DAMN J-PIPE would help to free up some extra ponies and torque in the 0-5k RPM range, thereby smoothing out that spike..

I'll have to look at the TL dyno's again, but that spike really does seem kind of whack..
