Date for 09 RL??

Does anyone know the actual date for release of the 09?? I got a letter from Acura saying they would waive the remainder of my lease payments if I get into a new Acura and I was under the impression it was to be released this month. After test driving multiple new cars from multiple brands I still love the RL. I can't secure an acceptable payment on the 08 and therefore will consider the 09. (Of course if I was in the market to buy and not lease, the 08 would be a steal!!)I really have to see it in person before I pass final judgement on its exterior looks.

Doc, I am in the same boat. I have test driven everything( including a Smart) and there just is nothing really BETTER then the RL. I am waiting for the new Genesis, but like most Hyundai"s I expect the engine to not be as refined and the fit and finish not as good as RL. Hyundai always cut corners were you can't see, that is their game . The new 09 Maxima looks good on paper, but waiting for a test drive. When the lease is up, I am looking hard at the Honda V6 coupe. Then I will wait to see what Acura does for the next G RL.

Dropped the car off this morning to fix the wipers (AGAIN!@!!!!), and salesman said that they'd be receiving their first 09 the second week of July.

WOW. Why was I under the impression they would be around by now (late May / early June)? Did I miss something in the production delivery schedule? I know I have been away for several weeks, but what changed the schedule? July is not really an early MY introduction.

I guess I can put away my torches, pitch forks and battering rams. I have been prepared to slay the beast.

Oh, bkw, +1 on your avatar subtitle! I saw THAT beast on Autoline Detroit and he is truly a Scary Monster.

Official release date is June 30th. If you can make your way to to docks where they're kept, you can see them collecting dust.

Really! And I thought that the delay was because Colliver was going to do something about that noxious beak. Silly me.

The dealers started ordering them at the same time they started ordering the 09 TSX. It is curious that they are both built in Japan and the took the orders the same time but the RL will arrive several months later.

My guess is that they are intentionally holding them up along the way to put some space between the release of the 2 cars. What the actual benefit of that is I have no idea.

I guess not. We'll see what happens at release. I will be sure to go test drive one. Expect an official, wordy neuronbob™ review.

Be sure to do the blindfolded test.

Maybe they came up with a retrofit for the nose, and it's being shipped over.

Wishful thinking.

Ok, this is only something I heard, so it by no means is to be taken all to seriously. Today I had to get my oil changed and had some words with the salesmen and woman there. They said they were told the RL release date was pushed back for that reason, to try and get a redesign in for the nose. Like I said, I heard it from sales, so who knows how much of that is true, but then again, maybe it is?

It looks good inside. I'll only have to blindfold myself as I'm walking to the car, then once I'm in, I'm safe.

Nope, no redesign for the news. We did order the 09 RL's at the same time as the 09 TSX. The cars have pretty much just been sitting at the docks waiting to be shipped out. They wouldn't redesign the nose after the car has been released and orders submitted. That's just wishful thinking. Not realistic by any means. The hold up is because there are so many 08's left. They want to clear most of those out before the 09 drops. I've seen the 09 in person.

Whatever your initial impression was when you first saw it should go away for some people. I was sick to my stomach the day I saw it released at the auto show. It really looks handsome and athletic looking in person. (to me anyway) The 08 is already starting to look very dated to me.

Didn't some in here claim they saw the 09 in person on dealer show rooms a while back?

I've seen the '09 in person, too. I'm sure we'll get used to the new schnoz. It's simply too bad the grille design was not "love at first site".
