Current RL Owners- What's the next logical replacement?

Wondering what you guys plan on replacing the RL with? I have an '05 with an extended warranty. I'll definitely keep this car for 2-3 more years until the warranty runs out. At that point, perhaps another RL (call me crazy) or possibly a used '07 + Lexus LS. I've always been a fan of the A8/S8, but hesitant to switch from Japanese reliability to questionable issues with Audi....

I'm in the same boat, 05 RL about 70k miles.

CPO 07-09 Lexus LS 460

CPO 07-09 BMW 745i

CPO 06-09 M5

And of course the 3 gen RL (not this current 2.5 POS) if it ever comes out.

I am 5'10 220 lbs and I felt so uncomfortable sitting in the back of the ZDX. Plus getting in and out is a hazzle.

05 with 126K miles. Would like a replacement soon
Was hoping 3G RL would be coming sooner.
The M56 looks somewhat interesting. Also, the E350.
Not much else is getting me excited

06 RL here. I am not due for a new car until 2014. But if 3 gen RL sucks (GOD I HOPE NOT) I might switch or stick with 06 RL. I think I would miss SH-AWD though.

I am also buying the extended warranty for my car with a small chance that I will let my wife keep it and get my self the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. I may re-consider once I sit in it but it looks good on paper.

Hyundai Equus anyone? I would consider a used one down the road, $25-30k... definitely not new!

I think the extended warranty is worth it, especially on an '05 when some have all these random quirks and issues. With the amount of electronics in alot of the newer luxury cars, extended warranty is a must IMO. One small thing goes out, could easily be a few G's to fix/replace.

I'm hoping to replace my 2006 rl with a hybrid luxury car that is about the same size: mercury MKZ. I'm hoping honda/acura will have a similar car by then.

I replaced mine with a 2011 Audi S4... It was a good move on my part but have had some reliability issues already but that was expected going to german cars lol. Next up I think will be a GT-R.

I have an '06 RL with 82K...runs fantastic. no issues except the drivers door doesn't lock\unlock via touch once in a great while, but I think it's due to the steering wheel sensor.

I have no current plans to replace my RL unless Acura resurrects the RSX with SH-AWD.

I have a 2006 RL (see sig) with 48K miles. Would like to replace it with the next gen RL but I suspect that it is still a ways off and may take quite a leap in price and size whenever it appears. So with that in mind, I am considering a 2012 TL which for me provides atleast 90% of what the RL gives me now.

mine is 09 and I'm getting it through Acura of Peoria in AZ, cheaper there, no tax, and they gave me an 18 month 0% w/ 10% down which is practically a steal.

do note that AcuraCare plans changed in February of this year.

Hey 037, excuse the stupid question and thread derail. Do you have to have an existing warranty to purchase an extended warranty? I have an '05 and close to 100k miles and am getting a bit concerned with some of the major issues like the whirring and whining (which I am not currently experiencing).

you can only get AcuraCare within the 4yr/50k bumper to bumper, sorry

On the bright side, the longest warranty they have extends you to 120k and you're almost there so you would save just under 2k if you had the warranty but never used it

If BMW introduces the diesel motor in an estate, that'll be it for me.

my car currently has 26k miles, and i am covered to '14/100k full warranty. will be keeping her for a while. this whole gen of acuras are a fiasco, i totally skipped the brand.

for my next car i am still wishing for a 2.3T 4-cyl sh-awd.

I am at 137k on my 2006 RL CMBS. Will probably keep it another 1.5 yrs (another 75k miles in my world).

On the consideration list:

Another RL, Hyundai Genesis (would like AWD), Lincoln MKS (Ford has made me a lot of money on my stock and I like their quality), 2 year old LS460, and possibly the 2012/13 all new Hyundai Azera (the advance pics look great).

I am hoping Acura knocks the next RL out of the ball park in luxury, styling, and fuel efficiency......the current TL is out of the question....they drive well, but the Hyundai Genesis puts the TL's interior and exterior to shame for the same money.

Blazin - go test drive a boxster or cayman... But be warned... You will fall in love... The flat six wail as you head north of 4k....and hit the upper revs is musical.... My box was an older one, and itvwas a blast.. A newer one, or an S with more power would rock! They lack awd.... But handle well without needing it...

You could snatch up a nice box or cayman base model..still 240 ish hp,... Which is plenty.. For around 30k? Jstva guess.

One piece of advice....do not get a cheap one or one off warranty. I read a quote on a porsche forum that i learned the hard way to be very true.... "the cheapest Porsche you buy will end up costing you the most". Due to repairs.... Go cpo if u go Porsche.

If I had no kids I'd dump my rl and be in a cayman tomorrow. Buy it now before you don't have the option to have a two seater. Once you are in my boat, and have a family, two seaters become impossible to either afford or justify..

Probably will keep 06 RL, with 67k. Just had B16, 60% brakes still left, all is good, but will need new tires by next year again. Current pilot a/s have 35k. Hope to add 2007 C6 to the stable come spring

Saw them at the Detroit Auto Show and I was impressed. Like you, would not buy new, maybe used.

Sadly, nothing in Acura's lineup moves me and if I were buying today I'd be hard pressed to go back to Acura. Most likely wouldn't.

I LOVE the CTS, especially the coupe, although as much as GM touts improved reliability, I hear there is still room for improvement.

I have almost 80K on my RL. Still love it.

I have the AcuraCare warranty up to 100K miles so I'll likely keep it until then.

Then again it may still stay in the family. My oldest is about to get his permit and he's been hinting that he's love to get my car if I bought something else.

Not a bad first car.

For my next car I want a diesel with AWD. The 2011 VW Touareg has got some sweet fuel mileage numbers with its TDI V-6 and EIGHT speed transmission. Makes one wonder why Acura is not doing something bold with its MDX like a diesel with eight speed tranny.

For me I'll keep my RL but I'd upgrade my current BMW sedan for a 2008 BMW M3 coupe. Hopefully in 3 years.

An estate car is the terminology used in the rest of the world for what in the USA is called a wagon. The Avant from Audi is a model that happens to be an estate car or a wagon in the USA. In England, for example, you can buy a Honda Accord Estate Car, it is an Acura TSX Wagon in the USA.
BTW - I like your choice of Jag.

I personally am waiting to see what the new RL will look like, if I like it, then I will make the move, if not . . . . . . . Audi S6 or possibly a Q7.
