crank pulley

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their pulley's making noise. I hear a noise coming from the right side of the engine especially when i cut on the air conditioner. I guess the RL will be taking a trip south to the acura dealer.

The ralco stock size pulley has been on for a week now. I'm no professional driver but I can feel a difference in the cars response. Not sure how much power I gained but there is something thats for sure. Wish I had done this a few years back.

Is this one any better than the Ralco?

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on this hoping it + the jpipe will be a good combo.

No noticeable improvement? or what lol is this just snake oil...? I already dumped $500 into the JPipe on my last billing statement...I have 110k maintenance and was going to have them put one of these lightweight crank pulleys on while they did everything else.

Mine is sitting in my trunk as we speak! I for the life of me cannot find a shop around Tacoma area who will do the install! I don't have the powerful tools to do it myself... So it might be for sale soon! Its the unorthodox stock dia size and gates belt! Looks so good bet it feels better tho! I'm still smiling from pcd j pipe combo

does the pulley do much in terms of raw power or just increase responsiveness?

one area where the RL really lags is throttle response... which I think they did on purpose... when you gas it, it just feels like the car waits sometimes before it goes...

Try this!!

As for the install it's rather easy.

1: Take off rim
2: Remove 3 small tabs off lower fender liner and pull liner forward
3: 19mm and break off crank pulley bolt (i used a craftsman impact gun)
4: go to the top of the car and remove passenger side plastic covering of engine bay
5: under the power steering pulley you will see the belt tensioner (only mess with the top tensioner)
6: use a 14mm on a breakerbar, push tensioner toward firewall to release tension on belt and remove
7: take off stock pulley and admire the weight of that POS (do not lose the crank key, small slider key that will lock pulley and crank together).
8: install new pulley and slap on the crank pulley bolt.
9: install new belt, push tensioner and wrap onto the power steering pump last.

This took me about 2 hours of driving to the parts store trying to find the correct belt to use. total took me about 2.5 hours. this honest to god should take you no longer to do than 35 minutes once you break the pulley bolt lose. i hear people having horror stories about that.

Sorry for no pictures guys, still have to install headers on an SC430.

If I remember correctly the underdrive pulley isn't worth it for our RL's right..

As for the other one, I saw Ralco's on ebay for $159 with free shipping but have not been able to find cheaper.. Is there a better price out there or should I just go for the Ralco..

I wouldn't cheap out too much on this part.

The underdrive is not worth it on the RL given the heavy electrical demands of the car.

Installed at speedfactory in Tacoma, took 10mins literally! Will report back once I reset the computer! The oem unit is massive in weight compared!

I got mine from ebay. They say the price is $159 with free shipping but i made them an offer for 135 and they took it. Like I said i'm no expert but my rl feels quicker.

Did you swap a new belt on for the hell of it or just use the existing one?

what is the change in power/acceleration from doing this? does it feel like it makes more power at all rpms, does it get going faster from a stop?

what shoudl I pay a private speed shop to do the install? if I buy this, I"m not going to try and install it myself.

for $159 + install ---- if it actually makes real power..it sounds like a worthwhile mod!!
