Lightbulb Comptech Mass-Email ??

Back when I first started to really show a big interest in the RL I contacted Comptech to see if they were offering a supercharger for the car. They told me that they were thinking about working on a kit for the RL. I know once I buy my RL I would purchase one if available. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in supercharging their RL. I havent talked out any specifics with Comptech, but I figure if we can gather up enough support they might consider it. Depending on how close they are with American Honda they might be able to create a program for the chip to make it not void the warranty, if they can prove it wont produce any exceptional strain on the motor. Steeda, Saleen, and Roush have done the samething with Ford through their Tech-Transfer program, offering modified vehicles with a full warranty. I just want to know if I had anyone behind me or if I was going to have to go about this darkhorse.

any supercharger for a FWD car.....will put strain on the motor, if the RL was supercharged, youd be pulling around 350 HP out of the car, that is way to much power on the front end.

Having had an authorized Acura dealer install a full Comptech Supercharger/Headers/exhaust/airbox on
a new NSX & having concerns about warranty, here's
how it was explained to me:

If the modification directly causes the problem, then
I was on the hook to repair the damage. Lets say the
transmission failed, probably not. But if the engine
blew because of too much boost, well goodbye $10K+.
Headers, exhaust, airbox...no problem. Lowering, no
problem. Butchered install by some hack-big problem!

It used to be that anything one did to modify a car voided
the mfgs warranty...no longer true, in fact there's a federal
law now that changed the way mfgs treat voided warranty
issues.

Comptech and Acura have a very close relationship and
if the dealer did the install, chances are you'd never have
a problem. If you have a solid relationship with your
dealer, I think you can feel pretty comfortable knowing
you'll be taken care of by ACURA.

I'd buy one... I'd love to get an extra 50+hp out of my car.. The car already handles like a dream, why not give it the power it deserves!
Just my .02.

11.

Have to ship it to Oz.

But, having a car with a factory fitted supercharger - Eunos 800m -, and belonging to a small, yet fanatical, network of owners of same, certainly have access to the "right" (qualified, high-compression/complex hi tech engines) mechanic(s).

Now I'm starting to see some support !!!!!!!!!

I suppose I can put together a message to Comptech in the next couple of days saying I have numerous "investors" looking into the idea if Comptech could work with Acura on the project. If anymore people reply I'll add you also

You can get the sport springs from Acura (A-Spec kit) or from tirerack.com...........H&R springs.

As for the exhaust, you can spend close to 3,000 for 10 hp and 20lb weight savings.....I'll take the supercharger for the same price=)

And that would be your opinion . . .

1. The H&R springs are a bit too much of a drop for me and the A-SPEC are too small of a drop. I (as in for my car ) am looking for another option; something in-between like Comptech/Eibach or ideally Tein H.Tech springs. Sadly, both are vaporware at present time.

2. Most Comptech catbacks are around $900-$1000.

Bottom line, there is an audience for Comptech performance parts . . .

I would definitely be interested.

If it wasn't warrantied, I wouldn't want to be the first one to put one on, but I'd quickly follow suit if no-one had any major issues.
