Either remove them yourself or get the JDM or EDM headlight cluster.

It means removing the orange refletor inside the headlights. It requires removing he headlight from the car and taking it apart. If you buy the JDM lights, then just repalce. The orange reflector is a mandatory safety item, so taking them out, will make your car illegall on the streets. No to worry, I haven't had my reflectors on my 99TL since 1999.

Actually, it is not illegal for the reflector to be clear. However, the light must shine "amber" (as the color is officially called) so this can be remedied by using amber colored bulbs.

The reason that most manufacturers don't use amber bulbs is because it is easier to source the orange lens and white bulbs than amber bulbs.

We are not talking about bulds, changing them from orange to clear.

It has nothing to do with the color. Is the refelction. You can't remedied anything.

If you take the refletor out, you have no reflector. This means if you get in an accident at night and your battery is dead, you will not have any reflective piece to let other drivers know your car is there. So it is ILLEGAL not to have reflectors. BTW you can replaced the reflector piece (orange) with a clear one and still be legal.

Check this picture:

White TL has no reflector, it was just taken out.
silver TL (mine) has the reflector, but it was painted silver(can't reflect)
second silver TL (older model) still has the reflector

Here is a pict of the refelctor

The RL does have a buld behind the reflector.

So I don't understand what was wrong with my statement? You said that not having an orange reflector was illegal. I'm saying that having a clear reflector is fine as long as bulb behind the reflector is orange.

I mention nothing about removing the reflector completely in my post.

I thought tha by you saying clear you meant no reflector like the example of the white 99 TL in the picture above. Normally by saying clear headlights, means removing the orange reflector or painting it like it did. Now since the the legend has clear reflectors and you are able to buy them without buying the entire housing, which I doubt it then it would be fine. No having a reflector it is illegal and dangerous. Now about clear and amber bulds that is a different story. I have been pull over for not having amber lights in both texas and florida.
