Hey all-

Have an 08 RL with about a year left under factory warranty- due for a B1 service (oil change, brake inspection, tire rotation) have gotten quotes of 130.00 and 160.00..

If I do this myself will my warranty be at risk? IIRC I let the dealer do all maintenance on our RSX-S we bought new until it was out of warranty but it was much cheaper to maintain.

no, not at all.
if you do it at a dealer, you have a paper trail. so if you were ever to sell the RL you could cite the dealer and follow the maintenance trail.
this is simply solved by having a maintenance log.

 

Some scrupulous dealerships will tell you this, but this is bogus. I usually don't have time to do my oil changes, but bring my RL to a Honda dealership instead of Acura.

 

Just keep the receipts of when you purchased the oil and filter. That's what I used to do when I did my own oil changes.

 

I use an acura certified shop and keep the paper work while under warranty.

They are 30-40 bucks.

 

that sounds like a price for synthetic. Regular oil at my dealer is $42...
