If I still had my RL, I'd check. An alternative is to look in the service manual as it may have this information. Go to the "2G RL Garage" link and you'll see a link to the Service Manual.

According to my trusty Stanley Powerlock II tape measure, the console it just about 8 5/8" wide with another (approx.) 3/8" space between the console and seat itself.
