Center Arm rest tear

The split arm rest has torn at the seem on the drivers side.

Anyone repaired or replaced just the driver hatch door?

I believe the only replacement part is for the entire center console (top part)

try an upholstery shop, they will either replace the upholstery or may be able to save it at a cheaper cost then replacement of the entire unit

when I bought my 05 RL last week it had the same problem. their upholstery guy just put some glue on a business card, slid the glue in to the opening, pulled the card out. the tear is still technically there, but you dont notice it since it doesnt move around (glued down)

IMHO the worst designed part of the RL. The tops showed be replaceable at a reasonable cost.

You can only replace the entire top console for $600. There is a used one on eBay but I suspect a used one to already have stressed seams.

The glue solution is interesting. I hadn't thought of an upholstery shop. The black "leather" material is about as thick a s piece of paper (or thinner).

you can bring it to an upholstery shop and they can do it for you inexpensively. My brothr just got his done on his 06 RL and was reffered by BlazingGT. It came out pretty nice and cost way less than replacing entire unit

Check the 2G RL garage. There is a thread that covers this issue. The oem material is pleather and can be replaced inexpensively with leather.

I had the same issue when I purchased my '05 RL. I changed both covers myself. It was fairly easy. You can go to an upholstery shop and purchase a couple yards of material. Then go to your local big box shop and purchase a bottle of contact cement. dis-assemble the arm rest (super easy). Remove the old and replace with the new material. If your not the diy type. Just remove the arm rest and then take it to the shop... shouldn't be more than $50. $20 if you do it yourself...
