Car won't start, just clicks

A few months ago my car started sometimes just making a single click when trying to start it. For most of the time since then it would for right up on the second try. Eventually that turned into several tries, and now it won't start at all.

I tried replacing the starter cut relay as that was quick and easy. I then took the better in to be tested. It was questionable and 4 years old, so I replaced it.

Neither of those fixed it, so I'm assuming it's actually the starter, but wanted to see if anyone on here could confirm or has other ideas before I go through the effort. Thanks

Check your battery cables at both ends. Also squeeze the cables as you slide your hands along the length of the cables. There have been instances where there has been internal corrosion in the battery cables. Something else to try is a couple of light taps on the starter itself. This works sometimes, if you are stuck.

This is one of the standard ways that starters fail - the solenoid starts to stick.

A replacement starter will probably solve your problem 👍

All Hondas do it eventually.

It's usually the main relay. You can usually re-solder the connections by re-melting them. Or buy a new main relay.
