Yup, I was going to say for resale value reasons.

Now what i'm going to say to you is this:
Are you going to a shop you are sure does excellent work? I know some cheap shops will paint the car a whole new color for you, and a few years later, it looks ugly as hell. Get a written guarantee against defects!

Of course, make sure they strip your car, pull the motor out, and paint everything. You don't want a silver engine bay with a black car

Opulent Blue Pearl is amazing. Had Redondo Red Pearl and liked it but this is so much better. It's easy to have a black car how many people do you know have a Opulent Blue Pearl car though?

I would not recommend this because to do this the correct way would require an excessive amount of labor. Pull engine, trunk, etc. Now of course you could leave your engine bay the old color and not worry about the hood, trunk, sunroof, doors , etc but that would just bug me to no end. If I ever came across a car for sale that had a mismatched color I would run the other away as the first thing to pop to mind would be a major accident repair. True or not why bother if other example exist without a complete repaint. Just MO.

I'd paint it the same color unless you are never planning to trade it or sell it.

I'll add a poll for you, though!

Actually that might look pretty neat. Kinda make the engine "pop"

Like others have mentioned though. The amount of work required to correctly do a color change is an absolute and not only that it will be EXPENSIVE.

I figure on a good job youd be looking at around 5 grand or so depending who you know etc.

Basicly everything would need to come off the car, like if it was back on the assembly lline. You can get away without removing drivetrain and suspension, but everything (including windows) would need to come off. (could probably leave the wiring harness though.

old hatch, i see what you are saying, however if you mask the car properly, you do not need to remove windows etc.....
engine bay i looked at and it is all covered, so i would be leaving that as is as well, trunk and doors will be painted inside out and so will the hood. besides resale value and the job being 100%, because my friend owns the shop and i have seen his beautiful work, so i am not worried about that, i just want to know what color people think the car will look best in...... and the only reason im contemplating this is because when i bought the car, i looked so hard for a black one, but couldn't find one
and i saw that bmw carbon black, and i love how its blue in the sunlight and black otherwise..... lol i guess i duno what im going to do, lets get the body work done and see from there.....

Sorry to hear of the collision.

I have NBP (black). Do NOT paint your car black!! Pain in the @#$. Would opt for the original color. If I could do it over, would have gone for carbon gray.

I say you are looking for something new - go with the BMW carbon black! That will really stand out.

i duno im leaning towards the lakeshore silver metallic, save the money from the complete repaint and get a deck lid lip, new fog for the driver side, since mine is cracked due to a huge stone...
looking for a mugen kit, as the aspec kit doesnt really tickle my fancy, anyone know where i can find one for a good price???
possibly the aspec suspension, unless others have found better results with different suspension kits? any input is welcome
