can't turn the key!!?? help

I'm posting from my phone. apologies for lack of capitalization or formatting.

I an out of town, and left my car manual in the garage.

I can open and close my door normally, but when I get in, it won't turn. I can't get it to turn over. in other words, it won't even attempt to do the starter. the fob is still broadcasting because the locks work normally. why won't it try and start?

what should I check or verify?

I don't know how to use the metal key either, so help there may be nice.

I would RTFM if I had it ... grrr.... stupid me.

Try getting out of the car, and locking/unlocking the car again. It's possible that it's not detecting the fob (inside the car). Try holding the fob closer to the ignition (maybe potential interference), aside from trying to move the wheel around.

If all else fails, Scott, pull the metal key out of the fob, then use the point of it to push up into the cutout in the bottom of the ignition switch knob.

The cover of the knob will pop off and allow you to put the key in the ignition and turn it like a "normal" ignition.

But I'm with UW RL - maybe the wheel is just in a bind, making the steering wheel lock hard to deactivate. Wiggle the wheel and see if it will free up the ignition.

it worked! I don't know what was different other than a friend of mine with an Infiniti wasn't in the car with me this time. Maybe his key fob was interfearing?

anyway, it works and I can go home. thanks!

ps. I won't leave home w/o the manual again.

Can't you call Onstar and have them start the car!

Another reason to dust Infiniti!
