Can one disable the speed governor?

On the 2005 RL, how do you go about in removing the speed governor?

You cant. you would have to reprogram the engine computer managment systems, which to my knowledge, is possible but no one has provided the tools to the consumer mkt as in those that do for chevy, ford etc.

I for one would love to be able to tinker with the engine managment systems.

The RL should have had the governor set at 155 instead of 131. Not that people would go that fast, but it's European competitors are set that way, which is good, especially if you find a track...

I went to the dealer to reprogram the weight for the passenger side air bag for a small child. Would that computer interface with the governor? If so, a c note may get me the 155 setting.

I don't believe it'll reset the governor. The governor isn't affected by the weight of the passenger airbag.

He was asking if the same unit the dealer used to program the seat airbag could be used to reprogram the governor.

Definitely not. The ECU is completely separate.
