A/C fan speed

Anyone know if there is a way to change the default fan speed when selecting defog? I'd like it turned down a couple clicks. Rather than to always do it manually, I was hoping there's a maintenance sub menu where I could adjust the default speed. Same with the speed of the fan for normal AUTO A/C. It's a little too high even when the cabin has reached the selected temperature.

I'll take that as a NO.

Not sure about defrost.

For cabin A/C when I want it to slow down I simply bump up temp in 1 degree increments until it slows down. One hand can control temp clicker and cover vent at same time. Bump a degree, wait like 15-20 seconds to see if slows down. You need to wait that 15-20 secs for time to let it figure out if it needs to slow down. Keep bumping til still cold but lower fan.

If it's reached "desired temperature" then that's what's desired by the way your body feels. Ignore what the temp gauge says and bump up until it slows down. Then your setting is calibrated to the right temp for how you feel. If they car is the desired temp and your fan is still on high/higher then you need to ignore the number on the display and just bump it up til it slows down.

That's how I regulate mine.

Personally I find the "auto temp" seems to work half butted. Setting it at 67 when it's 72 outside results in a totally different temp that setting it to 67 when it's 98 outside.

Pretty sure defrost will do same thing though it does err on the full-crank side.

As far as I can tell defrost always goes to a fairly high speed. I have noticed the fan does slow down right as you make a phone call. Great feature but I leads me to believe the fan's programming could be adjustable.

There is mention in the manual of what the default settings are, but there is no mention that you can change them. You can swap your climate control unit for an MMC and have fan speed as one of the buttons. (You lose the "dual" option though.)

007, to clarify, you lose the "dual" button, but the dual zone climate still works properly correct?

IIUC, the default mode is dual. By not having a dual button, you cannot quickly turn it off and use the driver's side to control both temps.

However, I have never used it, so I can't say with certainty.

I find the temp I set it to has no relation to what's going on in the car. Well not *no* relation but it's never been as easy as "set to 65 and never touch it again"

When it gets cool enough I do the 1 degree bump, pause, 1 degree bump, pause, and when the fan slows down it is "set" and keeps the car cool enough. Usually first bump where it slows a little I do one more bump and it slows enough.

Then I'm all set for duration of drive unless there's a big change like sun comes out, big elevation/outside temp change, etc.

It's the sun that I find makes the biggest difference. The sun sensor can really kick the fan speed up. I manage the climate system well but I find that it take quite a bit of "management." It's one of the aspects of the car I'm not so pleased with.

GPS adaptive climate control was one of the more peculiar and over thought features of the RL. I would have rather had a "dumb" system and cooled seats over the RL's climate control.

I'm with you 007... cooled seats and maybe a heated steering wheel for winter... that'd be ok
