A/C Controls

When I use the climate control and want heat, I must go into the climate control screen to turn off the AC. Anyone know of a simpler step?

I believe that the A/C will shut itself off when the system is calling for heat unless you are in defrost mode which keeps the A/C on to dry the air prior to heating it.

I just turn the temperature up.

The fact that it is working in conjunction with the AC just means that it is "conditioning" the air. In other words, it's taking moisture out of the heated air.

I drive without the AC on most of the time. I just wish it would still change the fan speed automatically like the S used to do.

You can use the voice control to turn AC off. Just press the botton and say
"air conditioner off" and it will confirm it and turn it off. You can also set the fan speed in the same manner - "fan speed _" Good Luck!

Actually, it is my understanding that most vehicles with climate control keep the air conditioning running at all times, whether it is blowing hot or cold air. The air conditioning de-humidifies the air and prevents the windows from fogging up (and no, I'm not talking about just defrost). So, in most cases (if not, all) the air conditioning will be running full time, be it -3 or 103 degrees outside, unless you manually shut off the air conditioner.

Interesting...everyone is happy with the heat temperature even with A/C on? Just by default I have always turned off the A/C when using heat...never even gave it a second thought.

Well, that was my "something new" learned today. I'll try it out and report back, but thanks for your replies.

Yes although it should burn less gas then when cooling hot air. I don't really understand why Acura doesn't allow you to just turn of the AC and keep the rest on automatic. It's really not that good for you anyway to sit in dry air. It's odd that the fan speed isn't regulated automatically anymore once you turn of the AC. Not sure which cars besides Audis have an 'econ' setting that leaves everything automatic except AC.

Oh well.

Just leave everything on auto year round. The system puts very small demands on the AC during cold weather. It is a balanced system that makes use of de humidifying when needed. The system is really quite smart. It also makes allowances for where the sun is if left on auto.

you can use voice. just say "a/c off"

I have never been a big user of auto climate control because every time i see the a/c is put on when in auto and always thought that was wrong. now that I read the stuff in this thread and see it is designed to do that and is ok maybe I should change my mind on this stuff. I always want my cars to have auto climate control even though I never use it. heh

This is why we still see people driving a modern car with fogged up windows. It's been in every owner's manual since the late seventies/early eighties - leave the A/C on while operating the heater to keep the windows free of fog. Try pushing the "Econ" button that some Mercedes and other cars have and see what happens. I believe most people don't read the owner's manual when they buy a car.

If you leave the system in Auto it will regulate the air temperature and moisture content perfectly.

What I meant to say in my reply above is just because the AC light is on doesn't mean the AC compressor is on. The old "economy AC" button is not needed as climate control systems have gotten a lot smarter.
