Bye Bye RL. Hello...

Acura had always been my favorite car brand. but lately my car been having a lot of problems I bought the car when it had less than 25k in the late 2006. It been running smooth and flawless until this year(2011). I had been in and out of the dealership almost every month.. AFS unit, Power steering pump, steering arm unit, propeller shaft, transmission, A/C unit, etc had replaced/fixed. Acura letted me down . my car been maintained at top notch. I really love the car and i don't want to sell it. but last week, i bought an Infiniti 2010 G37s Anniversary Edition with 6k miles. Im getting it on wednesday. Hope this car won't have much problem as the RL. The main reason i made this thread is, i wanted to thanks to the forum and the fellow members who had always helped me when i had question, problems, and ideas. without this forum, i won't know what to do when my car had a problem, who should i ask when i had question, and getting new ideas and informations from i surfing around the site. It was nice meeting you. Hopefully, your car don't run into problems like my car. Take care guys! keep the site going!!!

^^I agree, although I will say, not sure if it's just the quality we've had to grow to accept, or the fact that I have a 1st model year car...but the amount of issues and failed parts on my TL is pretty massive in comparison to other cars I've had that are either older, or have the same or much more mileage.

BUT, comes with the territory of having that many more moving parts and gadgets on a car too if i think about it. And last time I drove a 90's car...I thought...wow, this sucks.

Congrats on the G, there is nothing quite like the sound of the exhaust from a VQ engine . You don't have to leave the site. There are quite a few G owners in Car Talk--click. Sorry to read of your non-bulletproof RL.

Sounds like alot of the same issues I had with my 05 RL. So happy to get out of it. Have not had to visit the dealer once in my TSX since I bought it.

^^^Not surprising in the least. There's not a whole lot that can go wrong with a FWD 4-banger.

I agree with the above statements that most all cars are going to have their issues. People have to remember that even though they are made by Honda, Acura's are going to typically have more issues than comparable Honda's. The engines, suspension and brakes are higher performance and there are more gizmos to break. I'm sure nobody has ever had an issue with active headlights, adaptive cruise control or propeller shafts breaking on a Honda before because they just don't have them. As a whole, these vehicles are much more reliable than the majority of other luxury vehicles on the road. You just have to keep in mind that those extra gizmos and higher performing parts do come at a cost.

I am coming from Nissan world and honestly, engine you will love the most; luxury interior finish not so much. Infiniti is one of the cheapest "lux" brands and Nissan quite runs behind the rest of the crew in the race of who makes really quality stuff... unfortunately only alternates are Lexus and Infiniti - Japanese industry wise...

I really do not know what else I would get other than another Acura

Good luck and post some pics!

of course all cars have problem. but i expect the RL would not have these major problems. such as tranny, propeller shaft and etc.. the G37s is a nice car. i think its too sporty. i been switching cars every other day. for a daily car, i will take the RL over the G. for some reason, the RL ride so much better. but performance wise, the G is better. i'm going post up some pictures soon. been busy lately >.<

The 05 RL had many issues - I had one. It was the first model year of completely redesigned car with all new technology. I'm not excusing it, but it seems to be par for the course with first years of new models no matter the brand. I learned my lesson - I won't be first in line for a 2013 RL.
