buying a 05 RL 151k?
I found an 05 Acura RL great shape inside and out it appears as if its garage kept. The Manager of the dealership said the guy traded it in for another car and from his knowledge the car was well maintained. They dealer has no service records except what was done of by the dealer on the CarFax. The dealer is asking $8,995 I managed to talk him down to $8,500. He said the timing Belt/water pump was done on the car there's a sticker with the mileage. The car is really clean and has minimal wear on the steering and shifter I can tell whoever had it kept it up?
Yep, no records, walk. The 05 is notorious for big ticket items. Search around here. Once sorted, Its a great car. A ppi won't help you much. AC and prop shaft bearing wont get picked neither will things like AFS. All fail somewhat suddenly.
I have a link for the car, its listed on cars.com and I read through alot of the car-fax service records and they've done tons of preventative maintainence on the car. Can someone check it out and tell me what you think here's the link. The car is dealer maintained as well.

Looks like the car was indeed dealer maintained and fairly consistently. Since the majority of the service was done at Rick Case Acura, I would call them with the VIN and verify that the timing belt and water pump was done and when. That would be the biggest thing to verify. While you are talking to them, have them verify that the car was maintained there pretty regularly its entire life like what it shows on Carfax.
Aside from that, it's really your call on price vs mileage. At almost 10 years old and 150K miles, some things are surely to break. If you go in with that in mind and a budget to repair them, then you will be good. Things that are likely to fail are typically convenience items that won't leave you stranded (aside from the timing belt/water pump), so not a big deal if you get a good price on the car.
My 2006 RL has 124K miles and has given me no trouble. There was a fellow who racked up more than 300K miles on his 2005 RL who posted on this forum for years. At $8500 you are getting a car that will likely go another 100K miles without major investment and a great ride, too. In my opinion, your chances of going another 50K miles with minimal investment are quite good. My son drove his first generation 2002 RL to 225K miles with no investment of any consequence until the car hit 205K miles.
My 05 RL was a nightmare. The headlights, the ABS, the prop shaft bearing, the air conditioner clutch, and passenger seat controls to name a few. All of this with less than 60,000 miles. Traded it away as soon as I had the chance.
And, as Megatron said, budget for some things to break -- and understand while this car doesn't have Mercedes-priced parts, they're not anywhere near Accord prices either.
