Hello Acurazine! Just a quick question. I changed my front brake pads today for the first time on this car and when removing the bottom bolt from the calipers I had quite a bit of brake fluid pour out. My assumption is that this isn't normal but figured I would ask the gurus. Also given that it only happens when the bottom bolt is pulled, and stops when reinserted fully, where might this be stemming from?

not normal; perhaps someone over tightened the lower bolt and pierced all the way through the caliper...

The RL front caliper is not the standard Honda caliper, which bolt did you remove from the caliper?

 

Passenger side, bottom one. Whats the variance between RL and standard honda brakes? Likely replacing the calipers anyways so the more info I can be armed with the better. Thank you.

 

It is my understanding the variance is HUGE, huge as in not even remotely compatible.

 

RL uses complete different front brake design (similar to Brembo but I could be wrong). Search youtube "RL front brake pad replacement" for some very good DIY.

Don't touch the two bolts on caliper that you can see thru the wheels, rather need to remove some clips and pins to change out the pads.

 

Appreciate the information. Yeah I learned that very quickly and found the driver side much easier to replace pads knowing it was 2 punch pins and a clip. They are indeed Brembo style and dummy me was sitting there laughing bc for once I had a C clamp that wasn't broken and didnt even need the damn thing. Sadly the bleeder valve (8mm nut) is completely rounded off from the prior owner so I'm going to replace the caliper to save myself future headaches. Gg Rockauto.

You know they sell just the bleeder valve too right?

 

They sell the bleeder valve on it's own. Please don't buy a new caliper because of that!
