Did the Google search and came up with a few vendors but they showed they didn't match the car for a pad or it was a waste of time providing alternative pads. I went to the company page and came up with the correct rear pad number (GS6D1090), and tried to order from ibrakeparts.com, but they are not taking orders. Tried to do a Google search for this specific pad and again zip. Who would have thought this would be that hard to find a set of rear brake pads. Suggestions?

I would contact the manufacturer directly. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Uh Oh...not good. That thought fleetingly crossed my mind that could be the problem. I will contact them directly via email and post the response. Thank you!

You can install just the front alone, the difference will be great. I rode like that until I wore the first set out, my 2nd set I changed front and rear and the difference was huge.

I'm sure ibrakeparts will get their act together and start selling again.

I bought extra's so I don't have to think about people selling out of great stuff.

You can use the time to track down nice slotted rotors.

Something I should pass along to the group. I installed the StopTech front pads last weekend. On Wednesday my wife calls me all shaken up. She said that there was a dog that ran out in front of the car on a country lane. She did a panic stop and missed the dog by inches. The lady behind her who was tailgating was all over the road trying not to hit her. My wife thanked me for putting on the new pads.

Factory pads are great...but these StopTech pads are AWESOME! Thanks O37.

sure....you're welcome. I sent you Satisfied GranSport 6...not sure why you keep saying StopTech unless you installed the wrong pads....

now if you like the front pads, see what happens after you install the rear AND stainless steel brake lines.

you should see my comments on RL braking prior to upgrading the brakes...I felt like the car was sliding not stopping.

P.S. if your wife got rear ended and said she stopped for a dog...that would make it her fault. Pretty sure you're not supposed to be slowing down for animals at the expense of humans.

You can stop for whatever reason. It is the person behind you who is responsible for keeping a safe distance. I always tell my fiancé that you can't let the person behind you control your driving. What if you were having a heart attack, your hood flew open and over the windshield, or your passenger started projectile vomitting? All would be good reasons to stop as soon as possible.

Kind of along the same lines, if someone rear ends you and pushes you into the car infront of you, it can be your fault for not leaving enough room. There are special circumstances like the person going very fast, but it is your responsibility to leave room in front of you.

I never worry about the person in front of me as I leave plenty of room, it is and always has been the person behind me that can't stop. I have upgraded pads on all of my Alfa Romeo's and they stop quicker than the person behind. Now that I have the great pads up front, I am going to track down some rear pads.

Can you mix pads? What if I can't find GrandSport6 pads? Can I use Carbotech? Porterfield? EBC?

If you have aftermarket pads up front, haven't you already mixed pads? There should be no issue with different brands up front and behind.

[QUOTE=oo7spy;13214470]You can stop for whatever reason. It is the person behind you who is responsible for keeping a safe distance. QUOTE]I agree but if everybody kept a safe distance then we would have to build more roads. There simply is not enough tarmac to accomodate the safe distance. Besides what is safe? Does the cop check you cars stopping distance in a data base before giving you a ticket? A sedan deville with old tires, on wet roads at 70MPH can stop in 275 feet. An F250 in 215 and a Porche in 152 but the law doesn't care.

After reading all the positive reviews concerning Satisfied GranSport 6 pads I decided to try and track some down as well. After not being able to order from ibrakeparts I emailed both them and Satisfied. Not hearing a response back I tried calling them. ibrakeparts phone is disconnected and at Satisfied's no operator or human answer and cannot leave a msg as the mailbox is full.

I called tirerack.com and they mentioned they no longer sell those. So I dug deeper and found out that Satisfied Brake Products is out of business, filed for bankruptcy -> http://www.chapter11blog.com/chapter...hapter-15.html

So the next question becomes what is the next best street/performance, low dusting brake pad to go with? Carbo Tech? Akebono? Hawk? Advics?

Thanks,
Mark

^^^ EBC Red Stuff.

db, a cop can use his discretion to charge you with reckless driving if you follow too close so there is that. One thing people don't think about when it comes to stoping numbers is that the person in front of you isn't stopped when you are following them. The are moving as well, so you only need to leave the difference in stopping distance between you and the car in front. For example, the Deville would need 60 feet behind an F-250 to stop in time (if both cars started breaking at the same time). Human reaction time comes into account too. I always find it so stupid in heavy traffic when a tractor trailer leaves enough room in front of them to stop and people take that as an opportunity to change lanes. When I'm behind a motorcycle, I leave way more room than I would with a car b/c the bike can stop on a dime. It's not black and white like the law makes it b/c like you said, traffic would be 5x worse. Still, the law puts the responsibility on the person behind, not the person in front.

(Sorry for the drawn out novel. I know you weren't arguing, but bringing up that it is semi-unreasonable, and I agree. )

Mark, Thank you for taking an extraordinary effort to find out about Satisfied GrandSport brakes.

I will be looking at finding out more about another set of replacement pads and will let the group know what I find out. What ever the case, I know I will be out-stopping the factory pads. I like Porterfield, my son likes EBC's.

Is there a friction "factor" that you can find out when comparing pads one against another? I heard it is a 2 letter code. Is the factory code on the pads a GG? What are the GrandSport6 pads code?

I did contemplated the option on going with carbontech for my BMW and RL couple months ago but their prices is pricey in my ipinion. However I did ended up buying Akebono euro ceramic for the bimmer and working flawless as is my daily vehicle.

alfadoctor, sorry you can't find the rear pads. I was so paranoid with the Satisfied I bought extras...

either way, ceramic for the rear is what you need as stock pads are ceramic. Also, 09+ Spec rear pads have been upgraded so you can even buy Honda pads.

My carbotech bobcat pads were cheaper than the oem??
Anyway just trying to point people in the right direction to some REAL serious brake pads for our heavy awd rl's. One of the reasons I loved the car is for the most beautiful caliper set up and color.

Ok, with 9 different pad compounds to work with on the car, what pad would you recommend ? Do you know the pad friction code?

O37, open one of those spare boxes of pads you have and read the 2 letter code off the front pads please. Just so I have a reference for the friction code. It is most likely a GG, HH or something like that. If I can find some Carbotech pads with a similiar or better code that would be terrific.

Thanks to all that have been in on this conversation. Its fun.

Alfa, the pads I sent you was the last set I had, I gave a seat of rear to another friend, so that was the last of my own backup set. Short of taking them off my own car I don't have any more...figured 1 full set was enough of a backup after I just replaced them.

I'm sure there's a ton of other products just as good, just gotta track them down based on other reviews.

Glad you're getting your money's worth with the last set though
