Bluetooth Patch for i-mate PDA2k available for download

Apparently, the BT patch for this phone has been posted. go to the link below which will take you to another link to get the update. I know someone recently had posted with problems with this phone and the HFL, but I did not remember if it was an RL or TL, so I posted in both. Don't know if it works but saw this post. Hope it helps

AcuraLink Problem

My HandsFree Link with my RL from my iMate PDA2K PPC works fine for both incoming and outgoing calls. The AcuraLink data connection does not work but I think it is because I maybe don't understand how to setup a Dial-up Networking Blutetooth service correctly or the RL is not setup correctly. The car setup tries to dial *99# with blank username and password which I think is correct for T-Mobile Internet. I did try to use my cell number for the username and account pw but that didn't help. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Yes, thanks for the post. I had already seen the notice on Howard Forums. With the patch my HFL now works fine except for the AcuraLink data connection. See my earlier post for details. Somebody told me there are still problems with the BT
DUN service on the PDA2K so that may well be my problem now.

I had my RL into the shop yesterday and asked about the Acuralink not working.

I spoke with a couple of folks in the dealership and someone ended up telling me that the car's VIN number had never been properly assigned to the dealer and thus they had to re-register me for AL again.

It took them a couple of times but I finally got a confirming e-mail from Acura on my PDA. Now to see if I ger any via the NaviSystem.

They said it might take another day or so. We shall see. I will post if I get a successful AL message.

So just make sure your registration has been accepted. Then the messages are supposed to arrive via XM, not your phone - or so I am told!

Please let us know what happens.

Frank, I merged your "AcuraLink Problem" thread into this one since Gator is addressing the issue here (Thanks Gator)

I'm officially clueless when it comes to AcuraLink

Thanks for cleaning us up!!!

On the PDA2K and BT experiences with 2005 RL, see the below thread:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=519497

It pretty well sums up the present situation for several of us. Kind of a bummer but hopefully will be fixed by HTC in the long run.

On the AcuraLink question, I was referring to my problems with trying to establish a data connection that is described in the "Drivers Setup Guide". But since I don't get the messages over XM either I will check with my dealer. Thanks for that info!!!

Now to go signin...

I posted this over on Howard Forums but I thought it might be of interest to people here trying to get BT working on their RL:

I wanted to follow up on the earlier discussion about the PDA2K and RL. I did some more testing today after I had hard reset the device and re-installed the BTSearchTime and PDA2K_Bluetooth_Fix patches.

I turned the BT on before entering the car, entered the car, turned it on and touched the Headphone icon on the PDA2K. The status said that the car and the device were connected. I made an outgoing call using the HFL which worked perfectly without touching the device - the sound came only on the car's audio. I received a call the same way using the HFL without touching the PDA2K with the sound only on the car's audio. The only thing that was not quite right was some static on the audio but not enough to interfere with the phone conversation.

I then turned the car off and then the BT on the device off. Later I used the car to run an errand and did the same procedure with the PDA2K as before. It did not work this time - the call was dialed OK but no audio was heard so I had to pick up the phone to talk. A similar thing happened with an incoming call - all audio was through the PDA2K even though the HFL was used to place and answer the call.

I then soft reset the PDA2K and tried the entire procedure again - it worked perfectly again so it appears that once you break the connection by either turning off the car or the BT on the device, you must soft reset the device to get it to operate properly - I believe others have pointed this out also.

Anyway I now have a working procedure where before installing the patches I could not place or receive a call using the HFL. I won't be using it because to me it is much easier to just use the MS Voice Command and place the call directly on the PDA2K but at least I know it can sort of work.

So to summarize my situation: Hard reset, installation of the referenced patches, BT on, car on, touch Headphone Icon, place or receive call. If connection broken, must soft reset device to work again.

Now I am going to forget about all this until the next patch or ROM upgrade.

For the PDA2K owners, there appears to be a new update for the units. This update is more than just the BT update and updates a number of items, pursuant to the iMate page. Don't know that it works or not but it might be worth checking out. At least the MFG is working on updating the unit.

Here is the link:

Thanks for the headsup. I installed this upgrade yesterday and it has made no difference. The BT stuff is still Build 3500 which is the same as the last BT patch. And I can't tell yet what the rest of the UG helped or hurt. I do know that if this UG is reasonably stable I will not do another until I know exactly what an UG is supposed to improve. I spent all day yesterday on this, between re-installing all my apps, re-entering registration codes, restoring system settings, and testing - no more!!! There does not seem to be a simple way to do this; one would love to be able to back everything up, do the hard reset and UG and then restore the apps and system settings. That should take an hour or so but......

Hapy New Year!!!

Sprite Backup for PPC has helped me in the past when I have done a full ROM revision on my Dell Axim. Sorry to hear you had to do all that reinstalling. Royal pain in the butt. Sorry the ROM update didn't help either but the ROM updates are usually subtle in what they show. You may get more stability or better RF, etc. Do a Google search for a couple of Pocket PC sites. The forums usually discuss this kind of stuff and can tell you if an update is worth it or not.

Happy Holidays!

Sprite BU is a great program and I used it for some stuff but with it you almost have to restore on a single file basis because of the way the Window OS installs stuff and it is just as easy for me to start from scratch. There is no one place that an ap installs to but rather installs the .exe file , a shortcut to it, a registry entry, a folder for data values, etc. And of course a lot of the ap developers don't follow any standard rules for installing their stuff. I have always wished that there was a backup utility available that would scan your disk or memory and create a single folder for each app and then place absolutely everything you needed to restore the ap to the same exact state in that folder. Then you would use a complementary utility to distribute the contents of the folder to its original location. But there is nothing like that I am aware of. At least that is one area that Mac OS X really shines over Windows OS - there is usually not a shotgun approach used to app installation and most things are really easy to backup and restore.
