Hi everyone,first time poster long time watcher.I have a 2005 acura rl yesterday was driving the car in the rain stopped to pick up my son and now the car wont key forward.Found blown #7 back up fuse.Every time i put a new fuse in it blows.After some research on here i found out about the door handles shorting out,so i removed door panels and unplugged the main harness so the door has no power.Replaced the #7 fuse and it blew instantly.Threw more searching on here i found out how to start the car with the key which worked great and got my son and me home.Now i would like to figure out why the fuse keeps blowing.My outer door handle touch pad thing quit working a couple months ago.The adaptive front lighting warning also came on,but that has came on before and the car always started.

 

Realy need some help on this,its seems to be a common problem,but cant find any answers.

 

the remove the door habdle sensor that is in the handle itself. read this thread..sounds like the same issue you are having.

You said you removed the door panel and disconnected the 'main harness'. Not sure what that is, but what you need to disconnect is the plug going into the door handle.

If that didn't work, then remove the plug from the other door handle. (and keep the door handle plugged that doesn't blow the fuse).

If you removed both connections of the door handles and fuse still blows, then it's something else.

But it's doubtful. Those handles are known to leak water (design flaw) and you were in the rain when it happened. Same problem happened with many on here.

 

Read this thread and BostonBob's saga and solution. I disconnected the problematic driver's side door handle last year around this time, and the #7 (10 amp) fuse on the RL stopped popping. Everything else worked, and has kept working. Last week, though, after a wet 8-hour drive each way to the north coast, I lost the fuel gauge, the power door locks, all key FOB fuctionality, the nav/audio/climate control LCD screen, and the fuel cap release button. Luckily, there are workarounds/manual options for most everything, even the fuel gauge. But I suspect a wet or otherwise compromised ground.

Today I acquired 4 pages (from AllData at my local Napa) of the grounding distribution circuit, suspecting the #601 ground. It's on the left on the floor. It turned out to be wet under there, and it's drying out now as I look for help here. Being used to VW's, I keep looking for a body ground to remake or clean up, but that's not what I'm finding. What is that ground going to look like?
