Anyone considered try replacing entire wiper arm assembly?

This might sound stupid, but has anyone thought about replacing entire wiper arm assembly??
We only have option to purchase the refills or replace at dealer for $135+ but I'd like to see if there is other solution.

My wiper started to make noise few days ago and it's gonna need new refills soon.
So I was looking at it for a while today and based on pictures alone
wiper arm from 2014 accord might would work.
I've looked at wiper arm design on RLX, TL(3g/4g), TSX and various other honda cars and no car has similar arm design as 9th gen accord sedan.
It was also considerably cheaper parts cost compared to Acura parts where each sides were over $100 on Acura parts but the 9th gen Honda was only $30 or less each and is much easier pill to swallow if things don't work.

Anyone wants to chime on this or give this a shot?

I don't understand. You want to replace it because it makes noise?

Why replace the entire arm?? If you think the blade is not gripping the windshield with enough force, then replace the blade assembly and not just the rubber. The blade assembly is like $50 for each side so $100 total. That should take care of any noise or wiping issues. The arms themselves should be fine.

Either I wasn't clear enough or worded correctly,
I'm asking around to find way to use conventional wipers/flat blade/thermoblade instead of integrated wiper design of RL which nobody uses.

If the length/size/angle from other vehicle was similar to ours,
I was wondering if it would work to give us more option for the choice of wiper blade.
I've replaced it many times and everytime I replace it I wish RL had regular wiper instead.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one wanting regular wiper or different option as for wiper.

I bet that if you change it the wiper won't work as well as it does if you just swap out the rubber. These things are designed to work with the windshield and aero effects of our car, why would you want to eff with that?

wiper blade refill

What?

I buy replacement blades off Amazon and they work fine.

28"

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002Z9R1G/

19"

One of each. Amazon says they won't fit, but they do.

Think others here buy them as well. Last about 2x as long as Acura refills.

Half of the members in this forum use the same refills. They are not anywhere near as effective as Bosch Icon's or numerous other premium wiper blades available for almost any other car on the market. OP does have a point IMO. Nothing that I would go tear apart the wiper system for, but it is a valid point.

My wiper motor return mechinism failed on me last week and I exchanged the whole assembly with a junkyard one. Works great. Took about 30 minutes. It just unplugs on driver side and then is 3 bolts after you have taken the wiper arms off and it slides out.

Move to Colorado. You'll need wipers for a lot more than the occasional rain shower.
